Lost
It hurts to lose. All the more when you are accustomed to winning as you are. And I am. We did not realize that there are no absolutes in failure and success. We did not realize that nothing is forever. Until too late. But it's important that we saw. And unfortunate that you were our example. Our technique is a glorious one, renowned and artistic, we say it requires skill and finesse, delicate maneuvers and tireless formulation. These words are blinders to shield wandering eyes from the truth: it is protection, we use them for what they are, puppets, because we are too cowardly for direct attacks. But you, you went beyond reversal with yourself, transforming your body into an empty shell to take the blows, a last defense, becoming a coward no longer by facing danger yourself in a form to last forever. But there was compensation. Gain victory, yes, and also lose your being, destroy yourself to win. And you lost anyway. You. And I. We knew they aren't forever, you could never be forever. We'd lost enough times before; you lost them twice, though they could be repaired the second time. That didn't stop us from fooling ourselves to think it would level out, that destroying the other would be success. Reality is not so clean as a mission statement or a battle. One action starts another, kills yet one more, and is within itself. He killed your parents, he killed my children, he killed his son's father. The blame on him is unjustified; he was fulfilling his job, he had a little one too. If I had known when he took mine and made theirs break, if I had known he lost his own…
I should not have tried to beat you. Because it hurts to lose. And because I won, you lost. But in winning, I lost so much.
In case you didn't pick up on it, "He killed your parents," to "If I had known he lost his own" is referring to Hatake Sakumo, Konoha's White Fang, who killed Sasori's parents. Every other part is Chiyo to Sasori though. And "they" from "you lost them twice, though they could be repaired the second time" are Sasori's parents :3 Thanks for reading! Hoped you enjoyed it!
