Prologue: The godamned clichéd origin story
Once upon a time, in a land far far away, in which fairy tale folk co-exists with humans. A king ruled with his beautiful wife. Everyone in the land loved them, to the ordinary, plain, boring village people, and to the ogres and trolls that looks so horrid, their many warts spell 'Ugly' in braille, but hey, at least they have soft hearts. So yeah, where was I. Oh yeah, everybody loved them, years passed uneventfully… and then… the king felt his time go near (even if his pubic hair aint white yet), remembering that they needed an heir, the two lovers got busy and soon gave birth to a fair princess. A princess with smooth raven locks, impossibly rose-colored eyes and smooth supple skin. Since this is a fairy tale, I'm going to insert an evil enchantress of some sort. The princess, named Hiyori, grew up to be a very sweet child, always happy and saw the good in everyone.
On her 14th birthday, the palace invited everyone in the kingdom, be it talking mice, dumb faeries, singing trolls, you name it, that being is there. So there they were dancing to tunes of old, some were out in the gardens, satisfying their desires. Some were eating their hearts out, and some were dancing in the middle of the ballroom, surrounding princess Hiyori and her dad. Each dancing to their own passions. Remember that thing 'bout the evil enchantress? Yup, you guessed it! The god, Bishamonten has appeared. Riding her mighty lion, she silenced the whole room. Igniting terror in their naïve selves, she walked up to the royal family and cursed their only child to despair in a tower all alone. But being a just god, when, the king and queen begged for there to be some way out, she granted them their wish.
"She can be freed from the shackles that I've woven. If, and only if, that person which has a cursed soul will save her…"
The records have a justification why the Bishamonten has cursed the child, but being the lazy ass narrator I am, I'm going to postpone it. After that event Iki Hiyori was immediately taken to a tower hidden from unworthy eyes, which was guarded by a ferocious beast.
The king and queen scoured the land for anyone who can save their precious daughter but sadly, anyone who has returned from the quest were empty handed or… they didn't return at all. The once jolly land became ridden of its splendor, leaving Bishamonten, gaggling? No, not quite, rather, hopeful, maybe? Very puzzling indeed.
I can end the story here, with a tragedy much like Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (without the Romeo), but alas, feeding on your already crushed souls isn't enough, this authoress is yet to trample on it soooo….. the moment you've all been waiting for….
We finally start our tale of valor on the one who can save the fair princess (or maybe even more?). The knight's name? Yato.
