1. When the average person is haunted by vengeful spirits, they, without fail, turn to Sumeragi Subaru. When Sumeragi Subaru is plagued by his own demons, he will inevitably turn to Hokuto.
2. Subaru wants to be a zookeeper, so it follows logically that he likes animals, and vice versa. Hokuto has never shared that dream, or any like it. Animals are Subaru's field, not hers, never hers. That's why it has always bothered her that birds, squirrels, puppies, and other creatures, when attacked by something (perhaps a larger animal, or a small child), always run to her.
3. Hokuto does not pray-at least, not in any church or temple. She believes quite firmly that the earth is our temple, and each living thing a part of it. She can't see an empty shell of wood stone as holy. To Hokuto, the most holy things are the most pure. This is why she prays only when Subaru is around, because maybe he hears her, and through him, something greater.
She doesn't know he does the same to her.
