Christmas time is here. Our waiting is done. It's finally here. The period of time that Lucy loves the most. She was excited today because after work, she was visiting her grandma and it's been a few weeks since she last saw her. So, after a hard day at work, she was on her way to see her.
Arriving at the community center, she went straight to the grams' apartment. She knocked on her door and Alice opened the door almost immediately. "Hi Grams, how are you?"
"Hey sweetie, I'm good, thanks. And you?"
"I'm fine. Came by to visit you. Been a long time since we talked."
"Well, then, can't wait to hear what you've been up to."
"You know, nothing much happened that needs to be said."
During their conversation about work and how Alice is adjusting in her new place, somewhere along the way the conversation was heading towards Myles.
"Grams, I wish you'd stop saying things about me and Myles; all the comments are, well, awkward." Lucy explained to her grandmother.
"They're true, though. I have never seen two people more perfect for each other," Alice said, not seeing the problem.
"You think I don't know that? You don't think I don't know that we're two pieces to the same puzzle, that we're meant to be together? I know all that Grams. I know all of that."
"Then why are you still just friends?" Alice demanded.
"Myles has stuff in his past…"
"So do you." Alice interrupted. "Nobody's perfect, you know."
"Look, Grams, I know I love him, and I know that he loves me too, but I don't think he's realized it yet. I don't want to push him and risk losing him. I want him to figure out what he's feeling and then we'll be ready to go beyond friendship again." Lucy explained.
Alice relaxed back into her seat. "How very wise of you, sweetie. Maybe, maybe I did something good after all."
