A little oneshot on the subject of consequences. My first fanfic, so critique is welcomed.
Summary: Aizen plays a game of consequences, but could it be possible that he's overlooked one?
Every action has its consequence. Aizen Sousuke knew that well.
The action of experimenting with shinigami-hollow hybrids had the consequence of Seireitei becoming suspicious.
The action of sending out a group of captains and lieutenants to investigate had the consequence of them becoming hybrids.
The action of Urahara Kisuke following his lieutenant with Tsukabishi Tessai despite orders had the consequence of him being blamed.
The action of Urahara Kisuke being blamed had the consequence of him, Tessai and the group of hybrids being abandoned by Soul Society and threatened by death.
Yes, Aizen Sousuke knew about consequences. Each one was carefully orchestrated to further his plans.
The consequence of Shihouin Yoruichi coming to rescue her friend and ex-third seat, although irritating, had been foreseen and deemed not dangerous to his plans. Soul Society would not forgive anyone who they believed had attempted to create the hybrids, and would neither listen to anything they said, or help them in any way, leaving it easy for him to gain the Hogyoku when it was needed.
Admittedly there was a slight miscalculation there, named Kurosaki Ichigo. But still, it was irrelevant. He had still gained the Hogyoku. His plan was still running smoothly. Kurosaki presented no immediate thread, engaged as he was in Hueco Mundo. Yet another perfectly planned consequence.
However, Aizen Sousuke had to admit that his plan of consequences had not counted on the consequence that the hybrids would survive.
After watching their hollows take over, he dismissed the experiment as another failure. Even though Urahara had saved them, he reasoned, their hollows would eventually take total control and Urahara would have no choice but to kill them.
How intriguing. It seemed they had found a way around it. It certainly explained where Kurosaki had received assistance.
The group who called themselves the Vizard were standing a short distance away. There were gasps from those who recognised them, and total confusion from those who did not. But the hybrid group paid no attention to the reactions around them.
Aizen caught sight of his ex-captain, Hirako Shinji. His face was composed, as carefully blank as the mask he owned, but his eyes burned with vicious fury at the sight of his traitorous lieutenant.
The eyes of the other Vizard burned with similar fire, making it impossible for anyone to mistake their intent. Aizen knew that the fire in their eyes could be as dangerous as Ryuujin Jakka if he wasn't careful. Maybe even more dangerous.
He smiled. Perhaps things were going to be interesting after all.
