Romance Is Ridiculous

"Romance is ridiculous," he muttered, entering his quarters. He'd been tortured all day long by bloody cards flying around, teddy bears and flowers, and awkward adolescents trying to profess their love to each other while blushing and bumbling and just being bloody irritating. He was done with it all.

Valentines Day should be banned.

"Hey grumpy, bad day?" Tonks asked, looking up from the book she was reading in front of the fire.

"When do I ever have a good day in the this bloody castle?" he replied, bending slightly to kiss her cheek.

"Whenever you spend the day with me," she said, smiling at him. Her hair shifted from a vibrant red to a more sedate orange.

He rolled his eyes as he tossed the latest homework essays onto his desk, ready to be marked.

"So, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you don't want to go out this evening?" she grinned.

"No wonder you're an auror. You're speculations and assumptions are bang on the nose," he muttered, wrinkling his nose at the thought.

"Hmm, then it's a good job I plan on spoiling you here instead. There is a bath waiting for you," she told him, standing up to wrap her arms around his waist.

He returned the hug, holding her close to his chest. "Are you going to join me?"

"All in good time, Severus," she murmured, before biting lightly on his neck. Moving away, she shooed him into the bathroom.

Severus lay on the sofa, Tonks straddling him at the hips. Breaking her lips away from his, she asked, "Still think romance is ridiculous?"

He thought about the relaxing bath and the delicious meal that followed it. He thought about the pink lingerie framing her slim figure, bought specifically for him to enjoy. He thought about the quiet nights in they shared and the intimate meals out. He thought about his life before her, the lonliness and the misery, and he knew his answer.

"As long as the romance is with you, then no, it isn't ridiculous."

She smiled. "I knew I'd bring you around to my way of thinking. Come on love, let's go to bed and you can unwrap me properly."
