Jack Sparrow was many things a father however he never thought would be added to the list. The only good thing that had come out of his friendship with Esmerelda was his daughter whom he loved above all else even his precious pearl.

He had just gotten back from buying his daughter a birthday gift paid for by pickpocket money as it was sixteen years ago to this day she had come into his life and changed his world forever. He could still remember that day clearly.

Esmerelda had requested his presence with upmost haste aboard her ship that was docked in Tortuga. He was ushered on deck and to the Captains cabin where Esmerelda pushed him inside quickly.

It had been almost a year since he'd seen his childhood friend and they'd left on a pretty good note if he said so himself... Which confused him the more at how secretive she was being along with the dark look that had casted over her features as she lead him further in the cabin that's when he heard it a soft cry: A baby's cry...

Of to the side by the bed was a cradle and in that cradle lay a baby with beautiful blue eyes peeking up at him entranced he gave the baby his hand which the baby wrapped around her little finger.

Behind him he heard the surprisingly cold voice of Esmerelda. "She's yours Jack take her with you I have no want for a child."

When it registered to Jack that she said it was his child he quickly spun around." What do you mean-

She's exactly one month old Jack I have been with no other but you and it was a few weeks after you left I discovered I was pregnant.

Jack was suddenly filled with righteous anger. "Then why didn't you tell me as soon as you discovered-

"I've been doing nothing else but hunt you down for the past ten months and here we are now." Esmerelda said. "Now take her Jack or do you want me to place her in an orphanage? ether way she's not staying with me and I wanted to give you the choice."

Jack felt a heavy sense of responsibility suddenly way down his shoulders could he raise a child? How could he possibly when his father barely raised him? All these worries however left him the moment his daughter was placed in his arms curtesy of Esmerelda. Jack stood still in wonder staring at the soulful eyes of his little girl he knew immediately who his heart belonged to now and it wasn't the sea or the pearl it was her. She stared and Jack with such love, wonder and dependency and no judgment whatsoever that his long since hardened heart melted.

"What's her name." Jack asked softly eyes still not leaving the ones of his newfound daughter.

"She doesn't have one I figured she'd be more adoptable that way or if you decided you wanted her you could have the honor of naming her.

So without a glance back at Esmerelda the one he would detest ever since for abandoning their daughter in such an indifferent way he left the ship with a new purpose in life to give his daughter the best life he could give her.

Looking down at the face of his daughter as he left Esmerelda's ship he whispered to the ocean breeze. "It's a pirates life for us Esme."

Esme had grown into a beautiful young woman so beautiful she attracted attention of the male kind at every port much to her fathers dismay and irritation.

Jack had become quite protective of her to the point of possessive he didn't like anyone flirting or even looking at his daughter in a seductive way so much so many a men had lost their lives for acting upon their attraction to his daughter.

Esme was only six at the time they had lost the pearl to Barbossa and the rest of the traitorous crew. She and Jack had been marooned on a desert island where Jack then bartered with Rumrunners for their passage aboard and away from that dreadful place.

Ever since she and Jack vowed that they'd take the pearl back one day they had already spent ten years tracking it down which is how it they found themselves stealing Anamaria's boat that night which so happened to be the night of her sixteenth birthday.

"Ana's not going to be happy dad." Esme said exasperatedly as they rowed out to sea.

"She'll get over it darling mark my words." Jack said all to confidently for Esme's liking.

Jack then took out a cloth bag in which he handed to Esme. "Happy birthday my darling."

Esme smiled warmly at him looking inside to see the contents of the bag. "Oh my God." She breathed upon seeing the gorgeous blue dress and white gloves. however the moment ended as she realized something. "I don't wear dresses this fancy though because it would be unreasonable to wear given the line of work we do so why would I need this."

Jack turned to her then giving her a sincere smile one he only reserved for her. "It's a promise darling."

Esme smiled at him. "Meaning...

Jack looked at her before responding. "There might come a day where you no longer wish to live the whirlwind life of piracy this dress is for that possible time when you want a normal life"

Esme felt her heart sadden at hearing his heartfelt words she knew he felt guilty for everything that he'd drug her into involving the life of piracy in which he could never escape nor longer even wanted to.

"There's no life without you." Esme told him taking his hand in hers. "It's okay dad being a pirate has taught me more about life then some high class society life ever could thank you for the sentiment though who knows maybe I could use it as a wedding dress." She said the last bit to get the desired result which was Jack's guilt ridden face to turn into one of deep horror.

She laughed at her fathers misfortune causing him to look at her incrediously. "Esme! How many time's have I told you not to discuss such things with me."

She gave him an exasperated look. "Father I'm sixteen you can't protect me forever sooner or later I'm bound to fall in love."

He gave her a determined look. "Not if I can help it you won't all it will lead to is heartbreak. And no matter how old you get you'll always be my little girl.

She decided to drop the subject. "So where are we headed."

Port Royal." He told her at her raised eyebrow he elaborated. "It's just a feeling I have is all."

"We'll find her dad I know we will." Esme told him referring to the pearl.

"Aye that we will darling." He said before ordering her to let him take over for the rest of the night and for her to rest.

Nether of them knowing this was just the start of a very long adventure.
