"Did he mean nothing to you?" Clarke questioned in a low near whisper.

"Don't say that. You know I loved…I still love him."

"You have a funny way of showing it mom. I mean first you assisted in having him floa…"

"Clarke I never wan…"

"Then not even two years later you're fucking his friend." Before Abby could even stop and think about her actions or really about anything but the rage coursing through her and took a few steps cleared the space between the two of them and slapped her daughter across the face.

"That's enough! Your father isn't here. I'd do anything to have him back because he meant the world to me. I can't bring him back. You can't bring him back. He'd want me to be happy; to live life at the fullest. And I'm sorry if it upsets you but Marcus makes me happy. I feel safe with him. Don't I deserve that?!"

"Mom…I.." Clarke looked up at her mom her face red from where the hand had hit it, tears had begun to form. Abby motioned her in for a hug which was accepted and both began to cry.

"I'm sorry Clarke I wish this was easier. But rest assured I'd never betray your father like that."

"I know mom I know. And I'm sorry."
