Ch 1: If I Could Tell Him.
She sat on her bed fidgeting constantly, twirling her thumbs, tapping her foot on the floor of her room rhythmically, her eyes glancing at every inch of the room. If you were to go up to her at that very second and ask "are you alright?" she would respond "yeah i'm fine" which in reality she would be lying. She was nervous, no that wouldn't be the right word to describe her at that very moment . She was anxious. More anxious than she had ever been in her entire life.
"I have to tell him." She thought to herself.
This wasn't the type of anxiousness that filled your body with adrenaline and afterwards you'd get excited. This was the anxiousness that filled you with fear all the way to your bones and it would decide your very fate. To Lynn everything leaned on her decision on whether or not she should tell him.
Lynn took a deep breath to compose all of her thoughts, before getting off her bed. She slowly walked towards the window that overlooked the yard. The day was bright and sunny and the grass was glowing and bright green. Down in the yard were her 2 younger sisters and her brother, playing around as they always have during the middle of the day. She smiled as she looked down on them, playing around with their childhood innocence.
In her own way she envied them, she wished that she still was a kid without a care in the world. Where the anxieties and pressure that came with being a teenager didn't exist. She averted her eyes toward her brother. His soft white fluffy hair, his soft orange shirt, his warm and welcoming smile, his sincere and generous eyes. Everything about him just made her heart flutter. She continued watching as the three of them finished their game and walked back inside the house. She then closed her eyes and took a deep breath to compose her thoughts.
"Don't worry Lynn you got this" she said to herself hesitantly. "No matter what happens everything will be alright. He's always been there for you. He's your brother he hasn't judge you for anything before… well at least some things, but he never means it. So if you tell him, he won't hate you.
With her little speech of confidence she walked out of her room and started to head downstairs. As she headed down each step, the feeling of anxiety increased. Her heart kept beating faster, her hands started to sweat, and she began to breathe heavily. She stopped on the 2nd to last step that lead to the living room. She took a second to view then room in its entirety. In the living room the same chaos that happened every day was occurring right on schedule.
Lola and Lana were playing around chasing each other. Leni was watching project runway on tv while Luan was trying to practice her comedy on her. Lori was sitting on the couch, her eyes glued to her phone most likely talking to Bobby. Lisa was reading a book about astrophysics, since she was studying many of Stephen Hawkings published works and trying to implement them into her own experiments. Lucy right next to her was reading the necronomicon, most likely trying to bring a lizard back to life. Luna had her earphones plugged into her ears as she was rocking out to her music. And lastly Lily was crawling around with a pacifier in her mouth.
However the person she was looking for was not there. So she walked behind the couch slowly heading towards the kitchen. None of her sisters batted an eye at her keeping focus on their activities. She entered the small entrance way that led to the kitchen. There he stood right next to the dining table. He was making himself a sandwich wheat bread with ham, lettuce, olives, cheese tomato and mayonnaise. On the table were all the containers that contained the all the ingredients he needed. And right next to them was a Ace Savvy comic that was most likely what he was reading before making a snack.
He didn't seem to notice that she had entered the room, most likely too focused on his food. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves.
" Hey Lincoln.." she said weakly as she moved the focus of her eyes from him towards the floor.
"Hey Lynn!" he noticed her somewhat gloomy expression.
"You alright Lynn? You seem kind of down, Anything bother you?"
"Oh me? nah! Bro chillax it's all good, y'know just a gloomy day"
Raising one eyebrow up "umm Lynn you do know it's a bright and shining day with barely any sight of clouds right?"
Her face shrunk for a second before continuing the conversation "yah but this is just a gloomy day in general."
He looked at her with a slight confusion before giving a shrug and continuing on with his sandwich. She took one more breath before grabbing his attention one again.
"Hey Lincoln to be honest… can I… talk to you for a quick second."
He turned around giving her a quick glance. "Sure Lynn wassup?"
"I mean in private Lincoln.." she says as she looks towards the ground once more.
"Oh.. yah sure Lynn. Let's talk outside in the yard" he replied as he started to grab his sandwich and his Ace Savvy comic before heading towards the door.
The two of them walked outside towards the yard. Lynn somewhat trailing him with a distance between the two of them. Lincoln stopped a short while later dropping his comic to the ground and putting the plate with his sandwich on to his right. Lynn hesitated before sitting down right next to him. She slowly scooted right next to him, but still was trying not make eye contact with him. There was a short moment of awkwardness and silence before she finally opened her mouth to speak.
"Lincoln… what do you think of me?" she questioned still looking away from his direction.
Lincoln was slightly taken aback by the question. "Uhh.. Lynn.. i think… no i know you're a good person. You're sweet, smart, pretty funny, sometimes a pain in the ass"
She punched him with a strong right hook to the arm "Shut up you jackass" she joked as he winced from the pain.
"What?"
"Lincoln i'm being serious"
He grabbed her shoulders and held them firmly. "So am I, Lynn if there's something going on that's causing you to question who you are, just know that you are a great person, the best sister anyone could have"
He hugged right afterwards causing her to jump from the sudden connection between them two. She melted right in his arms, feeling safe and protected. As if anything tried to attack her at that moment the bond between her and her brother would block all the damage from ever inflicting them. Lincoln them released his arms from their embrace and gave her a look that said "it's alright, just tell me"
"Linc… you know i care about you right?" she paused. "You mean a lot to me. You're always there when i need you to comfort me, take care of me and just be a good person you know. You treat me better than anyone here, better than any guy at my school"
Lincoln gave her a look of confusion and suspicion. " alright.. Lynn where are you going with this?"
" Lincoln.. I…" She said as she stared into his eyes.
She started scooting closer towards him till they're faces were inches apart. Lincoln started to become really nervous at what her next move may be. "I.. I.. Love you"
Then she quickly leaned in causing their lips to connect. Lincoln's eyes became wide, his mind became blank for a quick second before he came back to senses. He pushed her hard away from him causing them to break the kiss and making her fall on the ground.
"LYNN… WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING" He exclaimed furious and scared.
"I..I-"
"Were Siblings! Brother and Sister! This isn't right.. What the hell is wrong with you!" He shouted at her his face red with anger and embarrassment. She looked back at him with fear, tears starting to from the corners of her eyes. Lincoln quickly ran inside leaving her all alone. She sat there in tears in the front yard her heart was broken. The one person she thought she could trust just left her, abandoned her, made her feel like a monster. She knew what she felt, what she did was wrong, but she just wanted someone to slap some sense into her, maybe even talk about it with her. Now the one person in her entire life who she thought she could trust in the end left her. And his eyes, the way his eyes looked will be ingrained in her mind forever.
"Linc...oln… I...I sorry…" She whimpered as she cried to herself.
3 months later~
Lincoln stood in front of the door that led into her room. He dare not to go inside there, no one did it just brought so many painful memories. Emanating from the door was this feeling of pain, sadness, dread and depression. This door, this single door was the bane of his very existence; this door haunted him through all of time from his waking hours up to his dreams when sleeps.. Lincoln closed his eyes trying to hold back the tears. His lips quivered trying to speak out the grief the he felt in his heart.
"Im.. sorry Lynn."
