Hi everyone! I recently developed a huge interest in skating and did a lot of research on it (plus I watched Yuri!!! on ice and got addicted... so you might see a few appearances of them here), then when I reread this chapter, I was horrified by how inaccurate it was, so I decided to rewrite it without affecting the plot! So... Yeah! Enjoy!
I Don't own Detective Conan nor Magic Kaito.

"And the final skater to take the ice is the 15 years old, three times American National champion, Yuukori Chiokami!"
The cheers and screams from the crowd were deafening, as a young girl with pale skin
and platinum blond hair in a ponytail cuff, with vibrant, blue-based glittery makeup and in a white, sparkly skating outfit glided onto the ice, smiling as she waved towards the audience, tanzanite eyes shining as she stopped in the middle of the rink.
"Her music for her exhibition is 'The Enchanted Waltz' by Stephen Rees."
As soon as the melody began, Yuukori began her dance. Her skates gliding across the ice smoothly as her body moved like the water, she barely seemed like she was using any strength, her body just flowed.
"In her free skate Chiokami has planned four quads, does she have the stamina to finish it? Let's see."
As the music grew louder, she gained speed, but it just looked natural, and with speed, she gently kicked off.
Quadruple toe-loop, single Salchow, Quadable lutz combination... And now a death drop spin. Next comes the step sequence... Nice and steady... Now here comes the second half...
"And she nailed it! A flawless landing! Up next should be another combination of two quads and a triple salchow..."
Blades dancing on ice, Yuukori barely dented the ice in her smooth kick-off to her next combination of quads, spinning as she flew through the air, hands up mid-air.
"A quadruple flip with both hands up a triple salchow and a quadruple loop combination- amazing! And a nice flying sit spin..."
Yuukori smiled with confidence. She's not even tired.
"Up next should be a Quad loop, right at the very end of the second half... This will be tough..."
She kicked off.

The crowd was silent, and Yuukori began her combination spin, blades spinning on ice, before standing up into a ballet pose. But the audience was still quiet, gaping as the judges gaped at her. And once they realised they weren't hallucinating, they broke out in screams and cheers.
"IT'S A QUINTUPLE! A QUINTUPLE LOOP AT THE END THE PERFORMANCE! SHE JUST MADE HISTORY! THE FIRST QUINT IN THE HISTORY OF FIGURE SKATING!!!!" The Announcer shouted excitedly into his mic in disbelief, the judges are quietly discussing about her performance, faces serious and excited.
Yuukori looked towards her left, a small smile on her face, her couch was clapping with a smile on his face, and she smiled back, before skating back to the rink side to greet him.
"Great job, Yuukori." He smiled, "I don't think I'm needed anymore."
Yuukori laughed.
"Albin, you were my mother's couch, you're not going anywhere." She said, "plus, I need a couch to keep me from getting a big head, or killing myself one day trying to perform a couple of decouples."
Albin laughed, he placed Yuukori's jacket over her shoulders and handed her a water bottle, then the duo headed to the 'kiss and cry'.
"How your mother managed that quad axel after her full day on the ice, I have no idea." He sighed, "but you surely take after her... With the same tanzanite eyes. You have different hair, though."
"From my Fathe— I mean, that man's side." Yuukori bit her lip, "Though I'm glad it looks better."
"Of course. It's nothing like that bear's." Albin sighed. "I'm sorry, about two years ago."
Yuukori nodded silently, "this program... The background music, she loved to play it when she's reading fantasy novels, she said it sets the mood."
"It certainly does."
"Aaaannnd the score for Yuukori Chiokami is—!"
"I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! 231.14!!! AND COMBINED WITH HER PREVIOUS SHORT PROGRAM SCORE OF 121.93, SHE RENEWED THE WORLD RECORD WITH A SCORE OF 353.07!!! AND YUUKORI CHIOKAMI TAKES THE GOLD MEDAL OF THE ROSTELECOM CUP!!! SHE has RENEWED HER MOTHER'S WORLD RECORD BY 7.53 POINTS!!!!!"
Yuukori's eyes watered, her lips trembled, and two trails of tears rolled down her cheeks.
"AND WITH THREE GOLDEN MEDALS CHIOKAMI HAS GAINED HER TICKET INTO THE GRAND PRIX FINALS!!!"
"Mum...!" Yuukori sobbed, burying her face into Albin's shoulder, who whooped with joy and hugged her tightly.
"We did it! Yuu we did it!" He cheered, Yuu was crying, hard, her tears won't stop, and she smiled brightly towards the cameras. Then, her phone buzzed.
Looking down slightly Yuukori frowned, who? She doesn't have a lot of contacts... She picked up her phone and clicked on the newest text message.
As soon as her eyes saw the words, her world spun, and her eyes darkened. A fire burned in her eyes.
"Yuukori...?" Albin frowned worriedly towards her, "what was that?"
"Albin, we are not going to the GPF." She said quietly.
"What?" Albin blinked in surprise, "but you just renewed the world record! Shouldn't you be happier? What was in that text message?"
"Do you remember that police officer who was friend with mum? Who I asked to look into the explosion of my mother's hospital?" She said quietly, carefully not letting her voice be heard by anyone else.
"Yeah..." Albin frowned, "wait, don't tell me..."
Yuukori handed him the phone in silence. Albin looked at the text, dread settling in his heart.
It was written in binary concealed number codes, meaning to ordinary people all they see are '0's, '*'s, '#'s and 'A' to 'I' s, but what Albin saw, was a message that sent chills down his spine.
'You were right. It's not an accident. It's something bigger, and they're after me. Now that they've found out I know... They still don't know about you, stay safe, Yuu... She left something for you at your favourite rink, go get it, before it's too late.'
And at the Rostelecom Cup, Chiokami Yuukori announced her departure from the world of Figure Skating and absence from the GPF. For a while, at least.

It've been a week since then.
Yuukori stood in front of her mother's white tombstone, eyes downcast and dull.
The officer died yesterday. They said it was suicide.
But Yuukori knows it wasn't, it was murder and she knows it, it was murder and Yuukori has no doubt about it. She copied down the code and deleted the message as soon as she reached home, then asked Ume to help her erase any traces of the code from the internet, securing her safety. It was a lot of work, but through a broadcast on TV and her popularity, along with several days of acting she successfully drove her mother's killers off her trail.
Gently bowing down, Yuukori placed the bouquet of white petaled Lavenders in front of the grave, and turned away from the cemetery.
As soon as Yuu returned home she walked up to the study and shut the door, and colasped into her computer chair. Her eyes stared at the celing as what she learnt from the files she found hit her again, and her hands tightened into a fist.
She gritted her teeth, glancing towards the laptop, that damned explosion, they dare... While her mother's brain dead in the hospital, they went and blew it up, right after they said there might be a cure, just to silence her, just to... Yuukori slammed her fist on the desk, tears burning in her eyes.
She still doesn't know much, but as the codes in the files hinted, there's an organization at work, a big one, too... And they killed her mother.
Yuukori's father left for another woman when she was five. She still remembered the argument, their shouts and screams... she let it all out through skating. It calms her when she skates. She was able to relax and think, and she thinks things others neglected, things people took as granted. Things everyone wanders... While in karate or fencing she pretends she's beating her father, that secretary, this cruel, unfair world... She still goes and trains her karate every once or twice a week, but for a diffirent reason.
She also once dreamed of being a detective, she, in fact, have solved cases with the police, with her quick wits and psychological knowledge she can force the criminal to confess with but a few sentences, or just point them out. There is a reason that she likes Ellery Queen and Sherlock Holmes.
She was always a bright child, quick-witted, skilled in time management and with a willing heart she flew through her classes with perfect grades and graduated high school at 15.
She would often write her thoughts down, in her journal, and they are all messy scribbles, arrows and filled with her neat cursive writing and sticker flags. She would sit down and reorganise her thoughts and events into her other diary as timelines, and carefully arranged notes.
It helps her think, and she enjoys it very much.
Yuukori sat up quietly on her chair and flipped through her mess of entries from this week, her mother's death, firing her manager and more... she needs to rest. She've just gone out for her weekly shooting rounds at the local shooting range and had just completely destroyed her sandbag in the basement with her fist. Yuukori gazed down on her messy notes, her thoughts, her life, and gently closed the cover. Turning towards her laptop, she flipped open the lid and started to type.
'Alaska- Tokyo flights'
Yuukori gently smiled, her mother is gone, perhaps it's time to go and see where she came from, for once.
And those bastards in black will PAY.
—*—*—*—Conan on Ice—*—*—*—*
Yuukori's eyes slowly opened, her vision still blurred for a few seconds, before she blinked and it cleared.
This... isn't her room.
She blinked several more times and sat up, the white, silky covers sliding down as she slowly got off the bed. Ah... Right, she recently moved to Japan, right? She looked around her new room— a suite bedroom, with a similar design to her original room.
Her things are all there; stacks of loose-leaf notes of thoughts tidily placed in her box, all 232 of her carefully numbered leather-bound Journals are neatly placed on the ladder-style shelf. All the furniture are precisely what she would buy if she has to redesign her home- There are also snowdrops and lavender plants placed on the empty sections of the shelves, her desk tidied recently and organised exactly how she would have done. And the floorboards... they are the same as the ones at her mother's house.
She had designed the house herself, choosing all the furniture and wallpapers. She looked towards the glass trophy shelves, filled to the brim with all her awards and cups.
Yuukori smiled sadly, taking a step back, she turned towards the gauze curtain covered glass panel door that led to the balcony and gently pushed it open. A gentle blast of cold air greeted her, and she let her eyes wander, scanning the area around the... apartment building she appears to be in.
She's in Japan... She's home.
Shaking her head at the silly thought, she made her way back into the room, exited through the door of the suite bedroom and into a hallway. There's a door opposite of hers, and to her left was the end of the hall, and there stood a large fish tank, with several jellyfishes swimming about.
Ah, right... her mother used to keep them. No bigger than her palm, colourful, and with long, ribbon-like stings. She smiled nostalgically. Then, she turned to walk to the living area.
The edge of the ivory floor of the hall was lined with small white rocks and occasionally, some small plants. It looked just like her mother's home, she thought, as she examined the pictures of her, her mother, and Senkai. Theese photos she all recognises, there are also a few with the Kudos, and the Kurobas, during their visits to America.
She exited the hallway, and scanned the newly designed living area the kitchen was open-styled and that most of the furniture are from Muji; the cream coloured couch, the large bookshelf stacked with her Sherlock Holmes and Ellery Queen collection as well as skating documentary and BBC Sherlock CDs, the glass coffee table, ext. To the side was a spiral staircase leading up to a loft, which had a glass railing like the stairs, which have wooden steps.
Yuukori slowly walked up the wooden steps, her hand trailing along the transparent railing. As she stepped on the loft, she was greeted by her favourite part of a house.
She calls it the thinking area, or the tea room, and inside it are a nice small kitchen with an oven and shelves full of tea leaves and coffee beans, couches and comfy sofas, bean bags, music and a shelf of her more interesting subjects of thoughts and events. Small plants in glass orbs growing hung from the ceiling, firefly lights in small jars and globes replaced the usual lamps. She breathed in the soft amoral from the plants, and closed her eyes.
This house just reminds her so much of her mother... She felt her tears burn behind her eyes, if only- if only-!
"Hi, Yuu-Chan."
The voice.
But it can't be! She's not supposed to be here! She— With these thoughts rushing about in her mind, Yuukori whirled around and came face to face with a women with black hair, fair skin, a slim built and icy, tanzanite eyes identical to hers. She wore a fur-collared jacket and a skirt underneath, and had on a familiar wool hat.
Chiokami Hatsuyuki stood alive and well in front of her, eyes bright and smile warm as ever.
*—*—*—*—Conan on Ice—*—*—*—*
"...Mum...?" Yuukori trembled, lips shaking from shock and something more.
"Yuukori-chan." The woman's smile widened by a fraction, and Yuukori screamed.
"MOM!"
With several steps, she dove into her mother's arms, her own hugging tightly around hers. Tears streamed down her face like she've never cried, and broken sobs escaped her mouth.
Her mother... breathing, heart beating, standing... alive! Right in front of her!
"Oh, Yuu-chan..." Hatsuyuki hugged her daughter tightly, a few tears of her own escaping as well, as she placed her chin atop her darling little daughter, her little angel, and kissed her forehead as any other mother would.
The two stayed like that for a few more moments, before they pulled apart and smiled at each other. Hatsuyuki gently patted her daughter's head, and carefully tucked her hair in place.
"Mom... how...?"
"Yuukori," Hatsuyuki said softly," I won't be able to stay long... but listen to me. After I was... brain dead, I stayed around. I never left, Yuukori, and I am very proud of you."
"I know your life is hard... And Yuukori, They blew up the hospital because I discovered something I shouldn't have... Yuu, listen well, okay?"
"You remember the Kurobas? Well... Toichi san was murdered, and I found evidence of that. So I started to look into it. But then they figured it out. And just as they were about to get rid of me... Your father happened."
Yuukori's heart clenched with anger as she remembered what had happened, how her father had... Had... She gritted her teeth, unable to finish the thought.
"They caught news of the possible cure, Yuu... So they sent two agents to get rid of me, and they blew the hospital up... Burning it to ashes."
"I continued my research, though, and followed them, collected information, and memorised it all. Then, I was given a chance... to be with you again, but... there's a condition, I'll have to get someone to end this international criminal organisation." Hatsuyuki sighed, "I agreed, and choose you to help me. But I can only visit you once a month until the whole case is over."
"Mom..." Yuukori blinked back tears, "of course I'll help you, I... I miss you... Mum...!"
Yuukori cried again, pulling her mother in a tight embrace, and she never, never wanted to let go.
"Yuukori... they'll send two other ghosts to look after you and teach you things necessary." Hatsuyuki said softly, "they're good friends of mine, so be nice, okay? One of them should arrive first."
"Mmm."
"I'll only be here for another few minutes... Yuukori, I'll visit next month, okay?"
"But...!" Yuukori protested, but at the sad look in her mother's eyes, she gulped down her words and nodded, "okay."
"Stay safe... Okay? The files are all in the hidden room I requested those who offered me a chance built; it's right behind your closet."
"Okay."
Hatsuyuki's form started to fade, her form shimmering and slowly turning transparent.
"Ja, Matta, Yuu-Chan."
Yuukori felt her tears trickle down her face as her mother slowly dissolves into air. Her limbs, formerly around her mother's warm body, now wrapped around herself. As if trying to comfort herself.
"Mum...!"
And Yuukori slowly drifted into the soothing embrace of darkness.
In the following days, she had researched and looked through every file in her mother's room, Gin... Vodka... Her mother's killers. Her heart still aches at this very thought, and Snakebite, the one who planned Toichi-san's death. There are also files on possible allies and undercover agents, Kuroba Kaito, her godbrother in Ekoda and the current Kaitou Kid, Furuya Rei, her mother's cousin from the PSB, Akai Shuichi, from the FBI, Hiromitsu Morofushi, aka Scotch and was killed a year ago, and a kid.
She was surprised when she found out that a child was on the list of possible allies, Edogawa Conan. But the farther she looked into her mother's observation file on this boy, the stranger it gets. This child is no ordinary child... He's different. She had concluded.
Several days later, a peaceful morning, Yuukori woke up to the soft amora of tea. Sitting up, she gently rubbed her head and rose from the mattress.
Wait.
She lives alone right now... There shouldn't be anyone else here.
She walked out of the room tentatively. Things are different now. She thought, 'Can't effort to be careless.'
"It's quite alright. I'm not Gin or any one of those alcoholic codenamed agents." A familiar man's voice said casually, in sightly accented English, "Do come out, I heard from your mother that you love wild berry tea."
Yuukori followed the awfully familiar voice out into the living area, and there, standing at the kitchen counter was a man who shouldn't be alive, at all.
A certain magician stood at the white counter, leaning casually against the ledge, a cup of freshly brewed tea in his hand.
"Tea?" He lifted the cup in his hand while tilting his head towards the other cup on the tabletop.
"Toichi-san?!"
—*—*—*—Conan on Ice—*—*—*—*
Yuukori sat uncomfortably on the sofa, sipping her cup of hot wild berry tea while she sneaked glances towards her godfather, and quickly looked away.
"No need to be shy, Yuukori," The man said, smiling, "Your mother has told Hiromitsu and me quite a lot about you during our time as ghosts."
Wait... Hiromitsu, as in...?!
"Hiromitsu Morofushi?! As in Scotch?!" Yuukori straightened up within a flash, eyes wide and gaping openly as she stared at the man in surprise.
"Scotch...? Yes, that was his codename while he was investigating the organisation." Kuroba-san confirmed, frowning.
"Then Furuya...!" Yuukori whispered, eyes widening as she thought of the PSB agent whose name was in one of the files she found in her mother's study. "Can people other than me see you two?"
Kuroba-san tapped his chin in thought, eyebrows knitting together, "It's... complicated, but basically, no, they can't. They will have to hold evidence against you, that you are working on this case, and then confront you or ask you, then list out their reasons, only after that you tell them, and they will see what you see."
Yuukori fell silent, staring at the brown liquid in her mug, what to do? What to plan? Go and find Gin or Vodka and pray to all gods she doesn't believe they won't kill her on sight? Or go barging into the PSB office the throwing them all her mother's files? No... She wants to take them down. Working with a team is fine, but she will not hand the job to another person.
No way she'd do this.
Wait...
Yuukori smirked. That's it! This is just what she has to do! Edogawa Conan lives in a Detective agency, right? This unusual boy... If she works with a Detective, just how many case files will she have assess to? Plus, this kid just has to be a death magnet... Over 90% of Tokyo's major crimes and murders happen around him. Not to mention his showdowns with Kaitou Kid... Ha. Her god brother must have it rough.
Now all she needs is time, information, and a job application. It does help that she doesn't really have a lot of classes.
"Ne, Kuroba-san," Yuukori asked with a smile, "you wont mind me being a detective, right?"
—*—*—*—Conan on Ice—*—*—*—*
It's official, one day I'm gonna die of boredom. Edogawa Conan thought with a scowl, walking home alongside the 'Detective Boys' and Haibara Ai.
"Ja- Matta Ashita," He waved to his companions dismissively, turning to walk up the stairs of the Mouri Detective Agency.
"Matta ne! Conan-kun!"
"Ja ne!"
"Ja Matta! Conan!"
"Matta Ashita."
He nodded politely towards them, before walking up the stairs and pushing open the door.
"Tadaima!" He called out loudly, closing the door behind him as he stepped into the Agency office. Ran turned towards him with a bright smile on her face, purple eyes bright.
"Ah, Conan-kun! Okaeri!" She greeted, and Conan suddenly noticed an unfamiliar figure working around the office, tiding up the shelves and the table, organising the files with colour-coded sticker flags, by their occurring date and type.
It's a girl around his actual age, with platinum blonde hair falling to her waist in a ponytail cuff, her skin is pale, and although her appearance suggested that she is Japanese, her hair and eye colour suggested otherwise. She is tall, taller than Ran, but shorter than he was, wearing a white formfitting turtleneck and a pair of light blue sports leggings. Her boots are strange, too, the soles are slightly too thick, and they have a small button on the inside. Conan frowned inwardly, she looks... Familiar.
"Alele? Ran-nee-Chan, who's that?" He pointed childishly towards the girl, who turned toward him at his voice.
"Oh, so is this Edogawa Conan-kun?" She asked, smiling, "Namae Wa Chiokami Yuukori, but Yuu-nee-chan 's alright! I am Mouri Kongoro-san 's new secretary; it's nice to meet you!"
Eh? Secretary?
"B- but she's still your age, Ran-Nee-Chan!" Conan asked. "How is she working already?"
"Oh, Conan-kun," Chiokami ruffled his hair with a small smile, "I'm a first-year university student already, I worked hard and flew through my years of school!" She beamed at him brightly, "You can do that too if you work hard, Conan-kun!"
"Yuukori-san came here today for an job interview. Since her family passed away, she thought she should start earning money on her own!" Ran explained to him, smiling sadly, "She also offered to look after you when dad and I are busy, so she's now your new babysitter! Yuukori-san is also an amazing ice skater, isn't that great?"
Babysitter? What?
"Ran-chan! I already told you, you can call me Yuu-Chan!" The platinum blond laughed, "and I'm not all that good, I can never be as good as my mother."
"Yuu-san, you are too humble!" Ran chuckled, "a, I'll trust you with Conan-kun from now on!"
Ehhh?!
