Good Exercise

Tony grabbed the lamppost. His feet ached. His back ached. His old college knee injury was playing up. And to top it all off, it had still been dark when Ziva had got him up to subject him to this agony masquerading as exercise.

"Zee," he took a series of deep breaths, "vah." he took another series of deep breaths, "You're killing me here," Ziva who was almost at the other end of the street, rolled her eyes before running back to Tony.

"You failed your NCIS physical," Ziva told him in a matter of fact way. "Ducky says you need to get fit."

"That doesn't mean torturing me like this," Tony whined.

"Believe me Tony this is not torture," Ziva uttered coldly. "Now hurry up or we'll be late for work,"

Damit, Tony thought as he mentally kicked himself. As he was mentally harming himself, Ziva ran down the street at her usual very quick pace.

He finally reached her at the end of the street. At this point he was sweaty and his breathing evidenced his plague stricken lungs.

"Ziva," he whispered. "I didn't mean for it to sound like that,"

"I know," Ziva replied, "I overreacted,"

"No," he told her.

Ziva took his hand. Tony turned to her. They stood in the centre of the pavement as the shopkeepers opened their stores, as the shift workers drove home and as the people as crazy as them; the early morning exercisers, ran past.

"Tony," Ziva uttered softly, "How about if you keep my pace for the next half a mile, we end the run early and go home and take a shower." Ziva paused, "Deal,"

"A warm, steamy, soapy shower," Tony replied with wink. Ziva smirked and nodded. "Deal,"

Both of them kept their ends of the bargain.
