The Nintendo Night Before Christmas

It was the Night before Christmas,

And all through the towers,

Not a creature was stirring,

Not even Koopa King Bowser.

The stockings were hung by the banisters with care.

In hopes the World God and St. Nicholas soon would be there.

Baby Mario was snug, asleep in his bed.

While images of candy canes danced in his head.

And Peach in her 'kerchief,

Mario in his cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap.

When out on the grounds,

there arose such a clatter.

Mario sprang from his bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window,

he flew like a flash.

Tore open the drapes,

and threw up the sash.

The moon shining down on the new fallen snow,

Gave the luster of mid-day to Toadstoolians below.

When what to his wonder,

Mario's eyes would apear,

But a minature sleigh,

And eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver and young passenger,

Both looking so lively and quick,

Mario knew in a instant,

It was the World God and St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles,

Their coursers they came,

And they whistled and shouted,

And called them by name.

On Dasher, On Dancer, On prancer, On Vixen,

On Comet, On Cupid, On Donner, On Blitzen.

To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!

Dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!

As dry leaves that before,

the wild hurricane fly.

When they meet with an obstacle,

mount to the sky.

So up to the palace top,

The courser they flew.

With the sleigh full of toys, the World God and St. Nicholas too.

And then in a twinkling,

Mario heard on the roof,

the prancing and pawing of each little hoof

As he drew in his hand and was turning around,

Down the chimney the World God and St. Nicholas came with a bound.

They were dressed all in fur from head to foot,

And their clother were covered with ashes and soot.

A bundle of toys St. Nick had flung on his back.

And he looked like a peddler opening his pack.

The World God was thin,

his eyes very wide.

He was no where as different as you or I.

St. Nick's eyes they twinkled,

his dimples were merry.

His cheeks were like roses,

his nose like a cherry.

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow.

And the beard on his chin was as white as snow.

The stump of his pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath.

He had a broad little face and a little round belly,

That shook when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump,

A right jolly old elf.

And Mario laughed when he saw him,

In spite of himself.

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave Mario to know he had nothing to dread.

He spoke not a word and went right to his work.

And filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk.

He and the World God said goodbye and he grabbed up his pack,

Gave one last little whisper and threw it on his back.

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle.

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But Mario and the World God heard him,

As he rode out of sight,

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

The World God went downstairs to the royal guest room to sleep,

Passed by the guards without making a peep.

The next morning everyone was opening their gifts,

And before the World God departed, Peach gave him a kiss.

And they heard him say with love and good cheer,

Merry Nintendo Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!
