Crush
Whenever she called him Captain Apollo, Lee found himself standing a little bit taller, his shoulders squared and his entire body at attention…or heading towards it. At first he thought it might be because she filled some sort of maternal role that had long been absent in his life. However there was always the one reaction insisting that how he viewed Laura was far from familial.
It was getting late now and he should probably be headed back to Galactica for the night. Or what was considered night, out here in this world without a sun. But he kept looking for reasons to linger. The mood on the President's ship was so different from that of the Battlestar. It made the truth of the recent events – the destruction at his hands of the Olympic Carrier – that much easier to face up to, to deal with. He glanced over at her again, eyes zoning in on her pocket. Okay, they strayed a bit lower first, but then went back up to her pocket. He didn't know why a piece of paper cleared his head so much but it did.
But it still wasn't quite enough to make him eager to face his father and tell him of his new appointment as the President's personal military advisor. Pretty much anyone would be able to predict that the news wasn't going to go over well. And so he stayed here, watching her and wondering how long it would be until someone finally kicked him out.
Eventually she walked over to stand in front of him, a smile on her face and a question in her eyes.
"Is there anything else I can do for you?"
Yes, there was so much she could do. Lee imagined taking a step forward and kissing her, wondered what she'd do if he did. Probably she'd be horrified but maybe not. Maybe she was the type of teacher who enjoyed the schoolboy's crush, once he was a bit older of course. Maybe she would kiss him back, slip in some tongue. Maybe she'd pull him down to the ground, wrapping those glorious legs around him, and share a new lesson plan.
Frakking school teacher indeed. His father had no idea how right he was.
"Captain Apollo?"
More likely, he'd just be fired, on his first day on the job no less.
He blinked, trying to clear his head and finally answered the question. "No, Madame President. I'm fine."
