Aneko: Two today, and they're both Spiral. What are the odds of that?

Disclaimer: I don't own Spiral already, yeesh.

The Power of Believing

She always watched him from the sidelines, providing information when in was needed, but not truly solving them (though it was true that without her help, Ayumu never would have come so far).

She watched him struggle through so many cases, digging deeper and deeper into the mystery of the blade children.

She watched him use his skills countless times to save lives, of to unmask the killer. He put on many masks as each case required—that was part of his skill. He could be confident and cocky, or serious and angry.

Yet beneath it all, she saw something no one else ever got to see: uncertainty.

With every case, he doubted himself, thinking about how his brother might have done better. He was never able to ignore his brother's abilities and think of his own.

She could never understand why he didn't believe in himself—everyone else seemed to. She definitely always had. However, no matter how many others did, he didn't. And every single time, every case, she would tell him to believe himself, telling him again and again.

Every time he never responded to her support, but this didn't bother her—she wasn't the type to be easily discouraged. If she had to she would keep telling him until she died. She had faith in Ayumu.

And if he didn't ever believe in himself, she would just have to believe for him. She knew what Ayumu was capable of, and she knew he was stronger, in his own way, than he thought he was—and than he thought his brother was.

Maybe someday he would understand—no, she knew that day would come, it was now just a matter of time.

So for however long it took, she would just have to have faith and believe in him…for him.

Aneko: There. I wrote that because it's true. Ayumu doesn't believe in himself (sadly). Hiyono is the "she" if you can't tell. Ja, sayonara.
