Disclaimer: I do not own Toy Story or anything pertaining to said movie series.

Author's Note: I have not seen Toy Story 3 yet, but I have heard that Bo Peep was sold. So, this takes place sometime after Toy Story 2 and after Bo Peep was sold. This is my first Toy Story story. I do believe that I failed to write the characters in character. This is for Shadows from the Past's challenge. Go on, read.

Jessie had always loved thunderstorms. She had always found them invigorating and loved to watch the bolts of lightning strike. She was glad when she heard rain pounding on the roof of the Davis home one night, thunder roaring afterwards.

She had been awoken from the storm, and she hadn't minded one bit. She lifted the top of the toy box up; she climbed out quietly so she wouldn't wake up any other toys. She climbed up onto the desk where she could watch the storm outside of the window. She was happy to see that Andy had left the blinds up, leaving it possible for the cowgirl to watch the brewing storm.

Jessie had been so entranced by the light show of the lightning and the sounds of the thunder and rain that she hadn't even noticed that a certain cowboy had found his way up onto the desk next to her.

"Jessie," Woody spoke softly, not wanting to wake Andy up.

Jessie became startled since she hadn't noticed that Woody had gotten out of bed where Andy was asleep.

"Are you all right?" Woody asked, looking at her with worried brown eyes as he stepped closer to the window, and closer to her especially.

She nodded, "Yeah, of course, Woody."

He now became confused. If she was all right, why was she being so quiet staring out the window? He looked at her, "Jess, what are you doing then?"

She started to laugh. He loved her laugh. She looked over at him for a moment, "I'm watching the storm," She smiled, which was something that he loved to see, "What does it look like I'm doing?"

"Well, it looks like you were thinking or something," He replied, rubbing his arm.

She looked back outside of the window, "Isn't it beautiful?"

He had never given much thought about storms; but as he stared up at the sky where the storm was taking place, he had to admit that she was right, "Yeah, it is."

She looked over at him with a smile still on her face, "You wanna dance?"

"What?"

She giggled a little, "Do you wanna dance?"

That was a serious change of subject, yet Woody couldn't help but nod yes. Her smile grew wider and he smiled with her. She jumped up onto her boot-clad feet and pulled him up with her. She dragged him across the desk, swinging their arms around carelessly. Since they had no music to dance to, they danced to the sound of the drum-like thunder and the pounding rain. She continued to lead Woody around on the desk and he let her do what she wished. She finally stopped to stare at the lightning once more.

It was silent, though it didn't feel uncomfortable one bit. Yet, despite this, Woody felt that it would better if he and Jessie were to at least speak to each other.

"Jess," He spoke, breaking the silence that had only been filled with the sounds of the storm, "Can I do something?"

Jessie turned to stare at the cowboy, "What is it?"

"This," He said as he pulled her closer by holding his hands on her cotton shoulders. He placed his lips onto hers, expecting her to break away, which was his fear. But instead, she deepened the kiss, placing her hands onto his cheeks. Before he knew it, she had released. Instead of asking what that was about like he had expected her to, even though she had continued the embrace of their mouths, she squeezed his plastic hands with her own and hopped around the desk, dragging him with her. Together, they danced as the rain outside poured down, dancing in the rain.
