Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters besides Hailey. Nor do I own anything that is in anyway similar to the show.

AN: This is really not very good. I wrote it during my philosophy lecture and decided to post it. Not sure why. But here it is.

Darkness. All she could see around her was the darkness. Sometimes she would see flashes. Images of the past, present, and the future. She even had the occasional moments of lucidity. They were part of the curse, allowing her to see those she loved for a few moments only to have it snatched away again.

The witch, Morgana had taken her from her home one night and tortured her. Tried to force her to give up some of Merlin's secrets.

"What does he know Hailey?" Morgana asked her. "What has he seen?"

Forcing herself to her knees, blood streaming down her cheek from a cut on her head, Hailey said nothing. She stared her old friend down and refused to speak.

As punishment for not telling her what she wanted to know, Morgana placed a curse on Hailey. She made Hailey endure the pain of having visions of the horrible things that Uther did to sorcerers, and see things may or may not happen in the future. Morgana even went so far as to fabricate her own images to torment the girl further.

Hailey saw Merlin, her best friend, struck down by the very dragon he trusted.

Gwaine was run through by more swords than one would think possible.

She saw Gwen weep as she was forced to watch Arthur burned at the stake.

The very worst were the images of Percival.

She saw her love die in the very worst ways imaginable. Watched as he endured various forms of the cruelest torture. The worst she saw were in the moments she was awake.

He looked sickly, hollow even. Nothing like the brave, handsome knight she'd fallen in love with so many months ago. It was clear he hadn't left her side in days. Merlin said he only left when Gwen was bathing her or changing her clothes, even then he only stood just outside the door.

Hailey had been living with the curse for several weeks at this point. She'd go into fits where she'd begin pulling at her hair, shrieking at the top of her lungs, and clawing at her skin as if it might stop the things she was seeing. It wasn't unusual to find her mumbling to herself in the corner of her room, only to have Percival rush to her side and hold pull her against him. She'd tried to make him leave. To find a woman who wasn't mad who could love him and care for him properly. His only response was to pull her tighter against him and place a loving kiss on her brow.

5 months into her madness, Merlin came to her rooms with a bottle. He said it might be the cure they were hoping for. When they forced the concoction down Hailey's throat, she began to thrash and scream, like her body was trying to reject the potion. It took 3 knights to hold her still enough for Merlin to say a spell over her that eventually lessened her thrashing to minor quavering.

When she woke a few days later, color had begun to return to Hailey's cheeks. Over the course of her healing her hair regained it's luster, her strength and wit had returned to her, and on the day of their wedding, Percival saw the sparkle finally return to his beautiful Hailey's eyes.

Love it? Hate it? Let me know!
