Hello my people! This is my first HxH story and the first chapter has been rewritten so many times since I first got the idea. Which means updates will be long. Sorry but I want this story to be good.

A girl ran, gasping for breath, towards the dark line of trees. If she could get to the trees, she'd be safe. But that wasn't going to happen.

The girl stood in front of a desk in a bare office. Short, choppy gold hair and the most interesting eyes, or well, eye. Her left eye was covered by an eye-patch and her right eye was a grey-brown. Her outfit consisted of a grey camo shirt lined with royal blue that stopped at the bottom of her breast, a black trench coat and royal blue fingerless gloves. Her short shorts were the same as her shirt and black combat boots adorned her feet. Double holsters were strapped to her thighs and a semi-automatic shotgun was slung across her back. A teal scarf wrapped around her neck.
"Are you sure you want to take this mission?"
The man who spoke was unseen but the girl just nodded.
He sighed and handed her a file. "Be careful. Nobody has come back from this mission alive."
"I know sir. I intend to be the first." She spun around and strode out the door, her coat and scarf waving behind her.
The girl now sat, crouched on a cliff, her sniper rifle set, pointed at the entrance of a cave 100 meters away.
She was bored quite honestly. She had arrived at this spot around 6 pm. It was now well into the night and nothing had happened.
She sighed, deciding nothing was going to happen tonight, she moved to pack up.
Bad idea.
As soon as she had put her rifle away, a roar that sounded like it came from a very large beast, was heard.
She stumbled, a dagger slipped out of her boot. It bounced down the cliff face and into the grass below.
The girl flattened herself to the ground and held her breath at the great stomping coming from the cave. Heart pounding in her ears, she let out a breath when the stomping stopped.
A roar and suddenly a massive griffin burst forth from the mouth of the cave, speeding towards her.
Panicking, she took to the trees behind her. She knew she probably wouldn't make it, they were too far away and the griffin was flying too fast. But she had to try.
'So close…come on…' she thought, heart racing as fast as she was.
She knew it was over when talons encircled her body. Screaming in shock and pain as she was swept off the ground and into the sky, towards the rising sun.
