There's nothing to this.
Nothing at all...
"Yuuu-chaaaaan! ~"
Kanda suppressed a groan as he heard the annoying voice of his self proclaimed "Best Friend", and felt two thin arms wrap around his neck. His eyes narrowed as he gave his trademark sound which sounded somewhere between a cough and a choke, "Tch".
"What do you want, Baka Usagi?"
He twisted his neck a bit so he could see Lavi pouting.
"Yuu-chan's so cold~ we haven't seen each other in a long time~ I just wanted to say Hi to my bestest buddy!" He rolled his eyes as Lavi sniffled, putting on that stupid puppy dog face.
The younger, but more mature of the two growled and turned his head away, expecting the older, yet incredibly more childish one to just cling tighter and start to whine louder.
He blinked when he felt the arms slink away from around his neck. He turned, eyes almost widening as he saw Lavi looking at the floor with frown. 'What the fuck?' Kanda thought to himself, perplexed as to why the always cheerful young man would suddenly look so sullen.
Though he would never ever, ever admit it out loud, Kanda was generally curious. And dare he say, concerned. As to why Lavi was acting so strange. "Oi, Baka usagi..."
"You hate me, don't you?"
Kanda blinked in surprise. What would make him ask such a random question? He didn't hate him. He had actually grown quite fond of his presence.
...Not like he'd say that out loud. Oh no.
"Che. What do you think, Baka Usagi?" It was the most kind, yet vague answer Kanda could come up with. And the samurai hoped the stupid rabbit got the message and let this subject die.
He didn't. Fuck.
That only caused the red head to look more depressed. And to Kanda's horror, it almost seemed as if he was about to cry.
Oh shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.
Yuu Kanda does not do tears. This is why he can't stand women, and annoying beansprouts. He does not do well when people start crying.
Therefore, this had to be avoided at all cost. Even if it meant letting go of the "tough guy" facade for a bit.
He gave a heavy sigh as he mumbled quietly "Lavi..."
He looked up in time to see Lavi looking straight at him, with a look that he could almost call...cute...
That is, if he weren't Yuu Kanda. Yuu Kanda finds nothing cute.
He sighed again, turning his head to hide the faint red tinge on his cheeks. "Listen...I don't hate you. So stop looking like a fucking mutt that just got kicked into a river."
He glanced back when he heard a light hearted laugh. Almost giving a relieved sigh when he saw the bunny grinning from ear to ear, his eyes-err, eye lit up again with a happy sheen.
"Yaay~ Yuu-chan loves me~" Lavi cheered, grinning wider.
Kanda felt his face heat up as he snapped at Lavi "I never said that!"
He twitched as Lavi attached to his neck again "You love me~ you love me~" The redhead cheered, clearly trying to annoy his buddy.
And Kanda couldn't help but wonder if it would have been easier just to leave Lavi here to sulk. But looking at Lavi's face and feeling the corner of his mouth twitch ever so slightly, he realized he might not regret it.
Maybe there was more to this then he thought?
