Falling
A/N: Italics is a flashback. Sorry if it's confusing, but that's just the way it is.
"No! Don't leave me!"
A little girl bent over the crumpled figure on the ground.
"Stay with me! Just-just hold on a bit longer! We're almost there!" She felt herself being jolted from side to side.
The figure had red hair and pale skin, far paler than any human being could ever be. He was very skinny, even emaciated.
"Here, save her! Please!" The voice shouted in agony. She felt herself being passed to another, softer set of hands.
Was he dead? The little blue-haired girl leant over him, and poked him. He groaned and rolled over. She giggled. And poked him again.
"She's in a critical condition. She will probably not make it."
This time, he opened his eyes. They were a beautiful sapphire colour. "D'ya have some food?" He choked out.
"The baby will survive, but she may not."
She smiled at him. "Yeah. Just come with me. Can you walk?"
"Is there any way to save her as well?"
The boy struggled to his feet, but collapsed before he could stand. "Here," she said, offering her hand "Just lean on me to walk." The boy looped his arm over her shoulders and slowly stepped forward.
"We will do our best."
The boy suddenly collapsed. The girl helped him up again when he fainted of hunger and exhaustion. "Y-Yahiko! Come quick!"
She felt a ripping, tearing sensation in her abdomen. She could feel blood, pulsing out of it. She felt herself fall away, and gave in to the blackness.
"No…Don't die, little boy. Help's coming." The little girl cried. The boy just lay there.
