Jayden/Mia
"Sweet Dreams"
Mia has seen enough horror movies to know that when the restless girl walks into the hallway at night, bad stuff usually happens.
Then she remembers that there is a big difference between her and the unsuspecting victim: she is the Pink Samurai Ranger and—well, actually, that is explanation enough. So, if she rounded the corner and found some sort of ghoul or Nighlok or whatever there, she could just Morph it up and be on her way.
Still, she lets out a sleepy yet relieved laugh when the thing she collides into as she rounds the corner is Jayden.
He grasps both of her elbows and steadies her, peering down with one eyebrow arched.
"Is something funny?"
She giggles (sleep deprivation makes her a little airheaded) and shakes her head. "No," she replies, feeling silly.
Then, as she is staring at Jayden with the eerie glow of the moonlight hitting him from the window, her blood runs a little cold and she grips him back a little tighter. "Where are you going?"
His eyebrows pull together. "What are you talking about?"
"You're leaving us again," she breathes.
"What? No, Mia," he whisper-hisses, "don't be ridiculous. I'm not going to leave you guys anymore."
She nods a little and looks down at their feet. He sighs and takes her arm, and she is too busy yawning to see that he is leading her back into his room, sliding the door closed softly behind them. She sits herself on the bed, rubbing her eye and looking at him, and asks, "What are you doing?"
"Well, since you're obviously not going to get any sleep until you know I'm not sneaking out again," he explains, "you're staying right here."
She blinks, wondering if she heard the words right. Then she remembers that they're in their pajamas and this blush sort of creeps across her cheeks.
"What if we get caught?"
"Relax. If that happens, I can explain it to Mentor Ji. He'll probably just give a warning."
She bites her lower lip as she watches him climb into bed, thankfully over the covers. It is warm enough out that they don't need to be under, and even though this is Jayden, she doesn't think she could be comfortable with that situation. He rests his head on the pillow and gives her this look. She sighs and shifts to lie down on her side facing him, her hair fanning out beneath her on the pillow.
The entire ordeal must've taken more out of him than she realized, because one second Jayden is grinning at her, and the next he is out like a light.
She smiles, watching as he sleeps. She'd have to ask him in the morning what he was doing walking around because she doesn't have the heart to wake him up. He looks so peaceful, finally at rest; not brooding in his own head or trying to be everything at once just to protect them.
It finally puts her at rest, too.
Because, as she rolls over so that her back is to his chest and warms her skin, he mumbles a little and drapes an arm around her waist, and she knows he's not leaving her any time soon.
I think these two have potential to have amazing chemistry (:
