Prologue

A scream ripped through the lunar cycle. Servos clenched, the mech sitting in the shadows restrained himself from leaping up and rushing to his sparkmates side. He had been sitting in the room outside the medbay for jours, though to him it felt like cycles. Another scream. His servos clenched even tighter as the screams grew in volume. Then, silence. The mech suddenly felt the presence of his sparkmate vanish, leaving only emptiness in his spark. A lone tear slipped down his faceplate from under his visor as realization hit him like a thousand energon bullets. Soft crying drifted from the medbay. The door hissed open, and a lone red and white mech exited the room. The mech looked up, optics pleading for an answer. The red and white mech shook his helm.

"I'm sorry."

Those words would haunt him for the rest of his life. More tears slipped out from under his visor. He stood up suddenly, and entered the room, a haunted look in his optics. He starred at the still form of his sparkmate. He knew that he would never see her smile or hear her laugh, and would never feel those soft, gentle and delicate servos, or see her beautiful face, the face that drew him towards her. She was gone. For good.

"Would you like to see the sparkling?"

The question cut though his thoughts like a sword. He nodded, in a slight daze, but shook himself out of it, quickly laying his servo on her cheekplate, then just as quickly pulling back from the lifeless faceplate and turning to face the medic. A gasp escaped him as he took in the form of his daughter. She looked so much like his sparkmate. He reached out, placing a gentle servo on her tiny helm. She cooed, a sweet sound, bringing a sad smile to his face.

"What's her name."

The mech didn't take long to answer.

"Override."
