30,000ft.- Chpt. 1 Welcome Aboard
It was a cool Monday morning at Washington/Dulles International Airport. An American Airlines DC-10 sat at it's gate, it's fuselage so hot it looked as if it were melting. First Officer John "Mack" Harvey strapped into the co-pilot seat, anxious to get underway. ATP Capt. Inusaiga strapped into the pilot's seat, he too, ready to depart. Meanwhile at the ticket counter, 263 passengers board American Airlines flight 451 bound for Los Angeles. The ticket lady read off the names as the passengers walked by. Judy Smith...Jake Milano...Naraku Takamuro...
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen, welcome aboard American Airlines flight 451 bound Los Angeles, this is your captain speaking, it is currently 65 degrees outside, and we will be departing shortly, thank you and enjoy your flight."
Twenty minutes later the massive DC-10's wheels left the tarmac of the runway and climbed into the cool, sultry, morning sky, bound for LA.
Little did the 263 passengers know their flight was to take a horrifying turn.
