Kai slowly opened his eyes as the morning seeped into his room. He
became fully awake as he gave a long yawn and crawled up in his small,
creaky bed. He got off of the bed and walked over to his small wooden
dresser, where he opened up the drawer and pulled out a pair of pants and a
white shirt. He tore off his nightwear and quickly put his daytime clothes
on.
Kai walked over to the window and looked out into the space. He saw the stars that glistened and shone every day. He saw the distant planets giving off immense heat and gasses. He smiled as he saw a white, triangular spaceship flying a couple of miles away. He excitedly ran out of his closet sized room and down the long corridor that connected many rooms like his own. He finally reached the end of the corridor, in which he took a sharp turn right to the ship deck, and nearly fell on the floor. Kai laughed at his clumsiness.
He quickly ran up to the large, thick windows that covered the room. He had been waiting for this moment his whole life. The moment to be free from the treacherous space school. The moment to have all the adventures that he had ever dreamt of.
Kai waited impatiently as the spaceship came closer and closer to the space school. As it got closer, he could make out the dazzling colors of blue and silver that made up the spaceship.
Finally, after much waiting and anticipation, the ship started to arrive at the dock. Workers at the Space School quickly opened the huge, house sized doors to let the ship in. The ship hovered over the large metal platform for a few seconds, then slowly settled down onto the floor.
Kai could barely maintain all of his excitement. Kai's palms turned white as he clenched them in happiness. He nearly jumped up in peer joy as the spaceship's small blue door opened out and out came a fleet of men, all with red and white uniforms on. The fleet made a row on the floor and waited for the commander of the ship to come out. Finally, with a few seconds delay, a man walked out of the spaceship. He wore a red shirt, blue jacket, and blue pants. He had never ending golden pins and medals hanging on his jacket. The whole fleet saluted the commander as he approached them. The commander then nodded his head, and the whole fleet put there hands down at their sides. They remanded perfectly still and quiet.
Kai became uneasy at the silence of the room. He didn't like how the whole fleet of humans behaved like robots. He stared closely at the fleet, just to see if any of them were even blinking. None of them were.
Kai saw the commander coming towards his with the corner of his eye. Kai quickly stood up straight and looked at the commander. The commander laughed.
"My, my. Now that you are a man, you resemble your father very much! But, I must say that you do have your mother's sapphire eyes." Said the commander, in a booming, low voice. The commander than laughed. "Can't you recognize me at all, Kai?"
"Of course I do, Uncle." Kai said, as he gave off a shy smile. Kai stared at his uncle. He saw weariness in his uncle's light brown eyes and the wrinkles starting to appear around his face. He saw that his uncle was indeed getting old now, from all of the adventures and excitement from commanding the spaceship.
