This is just something I wrote for 9/11. My heart and prayers go out to those whose lives have been lost/those who lost relatives/friends. This is the cartoon version. They're eleven.
Our Flag Was Still Standing
by Chipettegirl10
"Look at the fire and smoke…," Jeanette said in horror. The other five in the room nodded. Today was Sunday, and not a normal Sunday. Before Church, the chipmunks and chipettes had turned on the news, and were horrified with what they saw.
"According to what the press says, today is the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the Pentagon and Twin Towers," Simon said, pushing his glasses up his nose. He watched the screen, eyes never moving.
"Do they know who planned the attacks?" Theodore asked nervously. Simon nodded his eyes still on the TV. "It was bin Laden. They killed him on May 2nd, of this year," he said. "It took our navy ten years to catch him," Jeanette added.
"What about any of his followers?" Eleanor cut in. "They know exactly who to look for today," Jeanette reassured. "Everyone who was with him and possibly could be planning another attack is known by police, and they're on a no-fly list," Simon murmured.
"Bin Laden was crazy," Alvin whispered. "Who stands up and cheers at the death of nearly three-thousand people?" Next to him, Brittany shrugged.
"I don't know…," she answered. "Look at that!" Eleanor suddenly exclaimed, pointing to the screen. "A tenth anniversary attack was planned on us!" she yelled. "Eleanor, relax," Jeanette said. "Yeah," Simon added. "The tenth anniversary attack will never happen. Like we said, they know exactly who to look for, our technology is advanced, and we have heightened security today," he said.
"I asked Dave about travel today," Theodore piped up. "He said he remembers when all you did was get a ticket and get on the plane." "There was a time like that?" Brittany questioned. "Dave says we lost our innocence far before this, when JFK was shot," Alvin said. "That was a bad time. I heard him on the phone last night," Simon said.
"Why would he do such a thing?" Brittany asked. "He didn't like American ways; he thought everything we did was wrong," Jeanette said. "AGH! Stupid Muslims or Islams or…or…or whatever!" Brittany yelled. "Not all Muslims or Islams are bad, Brittany," Simon pointed out. "They are normal people like us, just with different culture. Then there are the extremists," Jeanette threw in. "Everyone, shut up and look!" Theodore shouted.
Everyone turned to the screen, eyes wide in awe.
"And through all of this at the Twin Towers…," Eleanor whispered.
"…our flag was still standing."
I hope you liked this.
