What is this body I find myself in? Is it really mine?

I look in the mirror and can see how this could be,

but where have the lost years gone?

These hands aren't mine yet they respond nimbly.

My body knows but my mind can not figure it out.

How do you cope with being but a child

then having the responsibilities of age thrust upon you?

I remember reaching for you, your hand just out of grasp,

the sorrow and terror in your wide eyes.

Four years and I am seventeen,

This unlikely possibility the one that is the most rational.

And as I stand alone and come to accept this I wonder

Where have the lost years gone?

All that is in my mind is you, lost to me now.

You are my overriding obsession.

I search for you all day and at night my dreams are for you

filled with promises that fade come sunrise.

You're still somewhere

and I'll find you no matter where somewhere is.

I call out your name and receive no answer.

Yet I know I will hear your voice soon.

I feel your warmth and can almost touch you,

so I know you can't be far from reach.

I'll find you again.

Because I can hold on to hope.
