Everlyn shuddered. All the Japanese people talking to quickly for her to understand made her nervous. She mumbled shaky apologies to the official looking people she bumped into. Damn, she needed some coffee. Looking around, Everlyn spied a small coffee shop, called something like 'Coffee Palace' in Japanese, that looked quiet. She hurried inside, the sudden warmth shocking her. The shop was small and near empty. A few couples in booths and interestingly, a man who looked about her age and an older man sitting on a small table next to a window with tea in front of them both and the rest of the table covered in assorted cakes and muffins. As interesting and odd as they looked, Ever decided to ignore them. Walking past them briskly, she spared a glance at the man sporting baggy clothing and messy hair, sipping tea when he met her wide eyes. She jerked her head away and ordered herself some coffee. After it arrived, she walked back past the men to an empty seat.
"Wait, Miss." English. She turned her head back to the cake table and again met the large, panda like eyes of the baggy clothed man.
"Yes?" she walked back to them.
"Are you English?" she nodded and the man shuffled over in his seat. Then she noticed the odd position he sat in, with his feet on the chair and knees tucked to his chest. He patted the space next to him and Everlyn stared at it in alarm. Did he expect her to sit there? He quite clearly did and against her better judgement, she sat down.
"Have you heard of the mysterious murders of criminals allegedly committed by a man or woman named Kira?" he asked the moment Everlyn's jeans met the chair. Alarmed by his suddenness, Everlyn nearly dropped coffee in her lap. She turned her head to meet the raven-haired man with wide eyes.
"Uh, yes, I have." She placed her coffee on the table with her other hand going to her lap.
"And do you support him?" Everlyn blinked. She averted her gaze to the cup of tea that reminded her of her sister, Naomi, who was an avid drinker of tea. After thinking for a while, Everlyn said:
"Getting rid of criminals is good and all but no. I do not support his actions as they are. . . Inhuman." the man remained staring at her with an owl like gaze and ate some cake. They stayed staring at each other until the older man spoke.
"Mr. Ryuzaki, we must return to Headquarters soon." His voice and appearance was extremely British, almost ironically, like he was taking the Mickey out of himself.
"Ah, I see. Well, we must take leave, so goodbye, Miss. I hope to speak to you again soon."
"Pleasure to meet you, Mister Ryuzaki, I am Everlyn Peirce. And I hope to see you again in the future, too." With that said, Everlyn picked up her coffee and walked out of the shop with Ryuzaki's eyes on her back.
