There aren't many things that bother Rachel Berry, young star in the making.
When people tell her that, like, she won't be the youngest woman to win an Oscar, she totally just shrugs them off. If they don't believe in her, it's their loss.
Oh, and just bee tee double-you, she's not trying for an Oscar, she's going for a Tony. It takes more talent.
And she's not bothered by the slushies to the face or her new white sweater being ruined by a stupid jock named Puck because, whatever. He'll be serving her slushies and lusting after her when she's famous.
And when Quinn pushed past her in History to deliver a party invite to Finn while she was in the middle of guilting him into an extra emergency rehearsal, she backed down only because she had a MySpace schedule to keep. So.
And the whole "no one's her friend" thing? She gets that her talent and intelligence is really threatening to people, okay, she gets that. She doesn't care, because once she's discovered, there will be no time for high school friends and their backstabbing and boy-stealing.
Oh, that's another thing people think bothers her. The absence of a boyfriend? Please. As if she has the time or energy to devote to a relationship with a less-than-talented high school boy.
Right now, she's just kind of waiting for that one vocally talented football player to spend time with her in Glee and fall hopelessly in love, leaving his Christian girlfriend for the dark haired ingénue everyone roots for. Stuff like that happens all the time.
…yeah.
There's one thing that keeps her up at night that she won't tell anyone, not even in her future True Hollywood Story bare-all. She can barely admit it to herself, mostly because it's so stupid and pathetic.
(The MySpace comments.)
So they can gossip about how ugly her houndstooth skirt, which is totally adorable and vintage, looks, they can mock her lack of friends, they can do anything they want. She's the star and she'll totally rise above the adversities the supporting roles throw at her.
But she's a great singer, she and everyone else who's ever heard of her knows it, yet they're trying to take even that away from her.
(Sometimes when she's checking her MySpace after washing out the slush from her hair and kissing her dads goodnight, she thinks they will.)
