Note I've been catching up on One Piece (I'm on Chapter 90 -
finally! XD) and was going to go to bed when this thing started writing itself
in my head so I hopped on the computer and typed it up. I'm not sure where
exactly it came from, but I hope you like it.
Distance
They have the strongest bond out of the entire crew. The Captain, the Navigator, and the Swordsmen are forever together. The Liar noticed it immediately but tried to push the knowledge away. He always tried to slip into their sect, but the harder he tried, the more apparent the division became, so he backed off so he could continue to believe that the bond included him as strongly too. The Cook at first was jealous. The Swordsman was too close to the Navigator, but as the months wore on, the jealousy ebbed away. This didn't mean that the Captain, the Navigator, and the Swordsman didn't have a bond with their crewmates. The Captain appreciated and defended all of his crew, proud of each and every one of them, but the angriest any of them has ever seen him is when the Navigator or the Swordsman is hurt. The Cook and the Liar know that their Captain favors his first two crewmembers, but they don't voice this. It does make sense after all. Tonight the stars are out and the five of them are on the deck of the Going Merry. They sit with the Navigtor and Swordsman flanking the Captain, the Cook by the Navigator and the Liar by the Swordsman. They might all be laughing at something the Liar said, but the very tiny distance between the old and the new crew shows through.
