Oblivious

Obi-wan sometimes wondered who Anakin thought he was fooling.

Anyone could see the spark in Anakin's eyes when Padmé was mentioned, the quick smile she displayed when she saw him. The holo Obi-wan had persuaded Artoo to display had plainly been their wedding day, both smiling at each other before a backdrop of one of Naboo's lakes. They were both happy.

Obi-wan had mixed emotions about it. Firstly, Anakin had violated the Code – but he couldn't help but be glad for him even as his logical side demanded his wayward apprentice be brought before the Council.

The second was a deep sense of loss.

Anakin hadn't informed him of his impending marriage, hadn't even trusted him with what had happened during his mission. Obi-wan knew something had happened – something dark.

But Anakin refused to speak.

The other Jedi appeared to either completely miss or ignore his padawan's 'attachment,' probably assuming if it were anything serious Master Kenobi would deal with it.

Obi-wan knew better.

He wouldn't deal with it – because it was Anakin's decision. It was his life. And in that lay his master's greatest problem.

Anakin trusted him with his life – but not his heart.
