It was a dark and clouded night, one that I've never seen before. It was a blizzard, quite a terrible one at that. Never had I before seen one this horrible. The wind was buzzing in both of my ears, I couldn't hear anything other than that. The freezing cold bite of the snow as it bit into my skin, my fur couldn't protect me from the wild wind whipping up the snow upon my face. I was cold, almost deathly cold in fact. I was surprised I hadn't fallen yet. Quite literally, as it was hard to tread on top of the snow. With fifty mile winds up against me. It was a freezing coldness. I had traveled from Silverspell, a small forgotten, desolate place. So small only thirty people was living there, it was a nice place. Until they kicked me out.
Let me explain.
I'm a wolf, a full-blooded wolf. The people of the town thought that I had been half-wolf, which is why they let me stay. Granted I couldn't speak to them, but I could understand them. Later on, a few hunters had joined the entire town in their bar, and had discovered that I was full-wolf. That was when I was kicked out, and almost killed. Even though I never attacked any of the townsfolk, they still kicked me out. Though, if I was human, that would have been a smart move. In case I would eventually.
After I had left, the few hunters who found out about me had apparently followed me from town. They attacked me when I least had expected it. So I was injured. Really injured.
There was a long gash across the left side of my flank, a few small gashes across my chest and my back. There were also impressions left behind from a bear trap that they had tried to strangle me with, luckily I had escaped before they were able to kill me.
So now it was just me, and the small trail of blood that I was leaving behind with every step I was taking. Letting anything within miles of me, that I was injured. And possibly be dead by morning.
Why am I alone? With no pack? Well, I had been kicked out.
Not because I wanted to, mind you. It was because I couldn't stay anymore, without putting my packmates in trouble or getting killed because of me. I couldn't let that happen to them. Not after what happened to my family. I didn't want to dwell on that fact.
Stumbling suddenly, I tripped and fell onto the ground beneath me. It hurt everywhere. Whimpering softly, I tried to get up again and failed. It was miserable, all this pain and the cold.
It was really cold. The cold was creeping upon me, seeping into every pore through my skin. Making my skin become numb, and I couldn't feel anything. Not even my tongue. Wiggling my nose, a faint scent of a wolf drifted into my nostrils. I wondered if the wolf was still around here, or if they had moved on. I hoped so, I didn't want to become a meal for another creature. Despite my wounds, I wanted to live and get my pack back. But I wasn't sure if that would still happen.
Looking up, I could see white. No clear sky, no full moon. Nothing, just pure whiteness. I could feel as the weight of snow started to slowly fall onto me. Weighing me down with it's weight. There was no way that I'd be able to get that snow off me by myself, I'd most likely be buried by daybreak. Covered in snow, and bleeding to death, what a way to go.
Laying my head onto the ground, I closed my eyes. Listening to the blizzard around, hearing as the snow kept falling and falling to the ground. Covering everything in white, covering my bloody trail of blood, covering me until death do me part.
Out of the blizzard, came the sound of pawsteps in the snow. I didn't bother opening my eyes to know that it was a wolf, probably the one that I had smelled. Putting forth a weak growl, I showed my teeth.
Hearing snickering above me, told me that the wolf wasn't impressed with my growl. I already knew that. Shifting slightly, I felt a little bit of snow fall off of me.
"Are you okay?" a voice penetrated my hearing.
I could tell the voice was male obviously. His tone was concerned, for me. Which was a first. Most wolves weren't concerned with other wolves, unless they were packmates.
"Hello? Can you hear me?" he asked, feeling his hot breath against my neck.
I gulped involuntarily. If he wanted to, he could kill me with his fangs so close to my neck.
"I...I'm fine…" I muttered softly.
"Would you like some help?"
"J...just leave me alone." I said, opening my eyes and staring into the most beautiful blue eyes ever.
Letting out a soft gasp of surprise, they were so blue. Like a afternoon sky after a rainstorm, or a azure type of blue.
Realizing that I was staring, I moved my gaze towards his pelt. Which was pure white, like the snow. I almost didn't see him there for a second. Shifting my eyes back to the ground, I refused to look into his mesmerizing eyes.
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Well, I don't think so." he replied, sounding amused.
"Just leave. If you're not going to kill me, then leave. So I can die peacefully." I said, looking up at him.
"You're not going to die." sounding so confident.
"Right, and this gash on my left flank is going to heal by sunrise." I said with sarcasm laced in my words.
"Gash?"
"If you haven't scented me yet, then you don't know I'm wounded. So yes, I'll be dead by morning I'm guessing."
"Oh."
Tsh, this wolf was getting to me. Wolves always use their noses to scent for prey, and among other things as well. I'm starting to suspect he isn't totally wolf.
"So leave me alone now."
"Okay…" he replied softly.
I looked up to watch as he turned around and loped off into the snowy abyss that surround him, as he got further and further from my view. Of course, he disappeared from my view a few feet away from me. So I don't know where exactly he went, but I know he left. I didn't feel his presence at all near me at all, that's how I knew that he had left me.
Lowering my eyes back to the snow, I watched as fluffy snowflakes fell to the ground next to me. I knew that I had to be almost covered in snow by now, considering the snow on me was quite heavy.
Closing my eyes, I drifted off into slumber. Between the conscious and unconscious planes of my mind, wondering if I'll die tonight or if I won't.
When Kiba had left her, he didn't know what to think of her. She was interesting, that was for sure. He'd never met a she-wolf before, he only knew one and that was Blue but she was different. Plus she was Hige's mate. He knew that.
But that black wolf he met, she was beautiful. Although the pain and worry in her eyes worried him. He wasn't sure if she'd survive the night without him and his pack. Course, they weren't a real pack. Since they didn't have a name, or have that many pack numbers. That didn't matter though, they all were friends and would watch each other's back no matter what. He knew that for sure.
Her deep green eyes drew me in, as she stared into his. They were a deep green that you'd almost never find in a wild wolf, something unique and special. He liked that. He knew that she was his mate. From the first second scent he knew, although in her scent he didn't know that she was injured. Until she told him that is, Kiba didn't want her to die. He had just met her, and he guessed that she didn't know that they were mates either.
He knew that even though she told him to leave her, he'd come back. He'd never leave his mate. He had to go get his friends though, so that she wouldn't die.
They really weren't far from where she had fallen. He was surprised from that fact. She'd probably be pissed that he came back for her though, that was a possibility.
When he came to their small cave, he stepped in and shook his fur out. Feeling lighter, he knew what snow he had on him and fallen off.
"Kiba. Where'd you go off too?" Tsume stepped up from the shadows.
"I caught the scent of my mate, sorry to inconvenience you." he said laced with sarcasm.
"Mate?!" yelled Hige, as he barrelled right into Kiba.
"Hige, wait for me!" he heard Blue say from the depths of the cave.
He watched as Blue walked swiftly from the back of cave to where they were, Hige backed away from Kiba and stood by his mate when she got near them. He felt a tinge of envy as he watched Hige licked Blue's ear affectionately.
"What?" replied a soft-spoken voice from the shadows.
"Toboe, I found my mate." Kiba said, gleefully.
"That's great, I'm glad for you." Toboe said, as he stepped away from the shadows next to Tsume.
"I didn't mean to be rude Kiba. I thought you left us." Tsume replied, his ears flat against his head.
"I'd never leave you guys, you're my friends and we stick together till the end." Kiba said confidently.
"So where is she?" Blue wondered, looking out behind Kiba.
"Well… she isn't with me. I had to leave her where she was." he confessed, lowering his head.
"Why?" Toboe said.
"She wants to die peacefully where she is."
" 'She wants to die peacefully where she is.?'" Tsume echoed.
"Yes."
"We must go to where she is then." Blue said. "We mustn't let her die."
"I agree. That's why I came here to bring you with me to where she is, if you want to join me that is." Kiba replied.
"Yeah!" they said in usion.
Then Kiba left the cave, with everyone next to him. They stayed close, so they wouldn't lose each other in the blizzard.
