Ahhh I'm in the Kuroko no Basuke zone
I haven't written any KagaKuro before so I thought this ship would be a nice one to try out uvu Y'know I told myself I'd aim for fluff but nope nope here have some angst
The place was familiar now, painfully so. Kuroko stopped at the desk to offer a smile at the lady, who had long gotten used to his weak presence.
"Hello, Kuroko-kun. Patient 1011 again?"
"Yes, thank you." He replied politely, dipping his head as he made his way towards the elevators. He could probably do it with his eyes closed now, if he wanted to, that was how well he knew this route.
Up, up, up, up, to the 13th floor. He stepped out of the elevator, walking straight forward and making a sharp turn to the left. He walked a few more meters at a steady pace, before he stopped in front of a door, marked '1011'. He rapped at the door.
"Hello? It is Kuroko. Kagami-kun, I'm coming in." there was no reply, but Kuroko was used to this by now. He pushed the door open.
There were recently brought flowers in a vase on the desk, most likely from Kagami's parents. Many 'get better' cards were placed on another table, never to be seen by the eyes which they were meant for.
"It has been a while, Kagami-kun. I am sorry for not coming earlier, there were matters I had to attend to." Kuroko paused, listening to a reply that would never come.
"Don't say that, Kagami-kun." He said with a small smile. "I would never lie to you."
He looked over to the cards on the desk.
"Would you like me to- no? OK, I understand. I too would also feel uncomfortable; having someone read such things aloud."
There was a long silence, but it was not uncomfortable, more awkward and expectant.
"I have joined a basketball club." Kuroko said, voice piercing through the silence. "It reminds me a bit of the basketball club we were in when we were younger. Everyone is very friendly. If you would join too, I'm sure it would greatly boost our confidence and strength. I am no good by myself, my passes are not as good as they could be. We were an unstoppable combo, back the..n." Kuroko choked out, voice breaking. He was only talking because he wouldn't face the truth, the painful, cruel truth. Always cutting off the story that yearned to be finished.
The boy took deep breaths, tears tumbling down his cheek and onto his lap. Trembling, he took the other's unusually cold hands.
"Taiga, why won't you reply? Please reply, tell me how you used to dunk back then, tell me about your matches with Aomine-kun and Kise-kun, please… y-you can even tell me what you had for breakfast, just, I beg of you…. Reply…."
He sat there and cried, fragile frame shuddering.
He lost track of time. When he stood, the sky was darkening.
"Good to talk to you again, Kagami-kun." Kuroko said, voice as calm as ever. "And sure, I will come visit you next Thursday. Yes, it's a promise, you don't even have to ask."
He smiled as he looked at the face of his loved one, staring into those glassy eyes which used to burn so fiercely. He closed the door behind him as he left, planning for next Thursday.
As soon as his footsteps faded, a long beep sounded through the room, then all was silent. The rush of feet, the shouts of nurses.
"Patient 1011 needs urgent attention! Patient 101-….."
And slowly, the noise faded away, and a star which used to shine brilliantly faded from the weeping night sky.
Next Thursday, wasn't it?
Sorry
