Thoughts From A Bitter Middleman

Goddamn it, that Bob Parr makes my blood boil over.
What the hell does he think he accomplishing? Finding loopholes for clients isn't going to make the world a better place. It's just going to make things even worse.
The world is not a kind, fair or giving place. The world is a horrible, greedy place. It's every man for himself. It's not about good things happening to good people or bad things happening to bad people, it's about image and power. Those without good looks or a good image must get power to survive.
I learn that when I was young.
My wealthy father left my mother for a younger and more attractive woman. When he had a son with that woman, he left me high and dry because that son was "all he had hoped for in a son."
Stupid bastard died 10 years ago and I'm glad.
In order to survive, my mother married an abusive man. She is still married to him for God's knows what reason.
When I graduated high school, I was passed over for a scholarship by Mike McJones, who couldn't do basic algebra but could play basketball.
Bitter? You bet your ass I am. I've earned the right to be.
When I graduated from the only lousy college I could afford, I started working at Insuricare. It took me 28 years and several smear campaigns to get here. It's a constant fight to prevent it from being taken by younger people who have less experience but degrees from better colleges. That do-gooder Bob Parr isn't helping one bit. His actions are draining money from the stockholder's pockets, and they like to use me as a scapegoat when that happens.
What the hell is that Bob Parr thinking? That somehow his actions are making the world a less corrupt place? It isn't. Even if America were to get rid of all it's corruption, some place-I don't know, maybe Canada or England or whatever-would increased it's corruption. It's never-ending. There is no helping it.
Legal corruption is a powerful thing. Working against it only brings sorrow and pain. Look at the supers! They had the power to move mountains and things of that nature, yet they were done in by lawsuits!
They say it's better to light one candle then to curse the darkness.
I say that lighting that one candle only makes the overwhelming troubles or the world more clear. At least you can pretend things are doing okay in the darkness.
People say I'm an corrupt, if not downright evil man.
I say I'm doing what I have to do to get by in this world.
Idealism is dead and/or unworkable. Get with the times.
