The shot came from nowhere. Tearing through the battlefield, a silver messenger of death.

There was chaos everywhere. The scent of gunpowder clung to the midnight air like a sickness. Blood blanketed the ground like a funeral shroud, the cries of the dead and dying creating a symphony of pain.

The bullet drew near.

If nothing was done, it would be a fatal shot.

A yellow blur flashed through the smoky haze.

It all happened in a second. The bullet bursting through hollowed bones as Hibird gave a shriek. Hibari quickly bit through his final opponent, the cry causing him to turn.

Just in time to watch Hibird fall.

Hibari's gaze widened, not believing what he was seeing. There, in that scarlet-tainted ground, lay his dearest pet, his faithful companion. Downy feathers mercilessly hacked and dyed a crimson red.

Not knowing what else to do, Hibari went down on one knee. His usual cold glare twisted into an expression of shock and horror. Unable to lift his fallen comrade, fearing the already broken bird would shatter even more. His lips were parted and yet no words spilled forth. Ther were no words to say.

Pag pumanaw ang buhay ko

So, ths sky opened up for him, the gray, gray clouds relinquishing the rain. The tears of heaven blessing the godforsaken ground, the sky cried. In Hibari's stead, the sky cried for him.

A/N: So... To anyone who can't speak tagalog, I'd be glad to offer a translation for the song in the story mentioned aboce. This is really more of a drabble. I grew up in the Philippines, I spent a better part of my childhood there, but when I moved here, i began to start forgetting how to speak my native tongue. So! This was an exercise to see how well I could communicate. That, and the song just fit so well~ The drabble was supposed to be a snapshot from a moment so it doesn't make complete sense because, it's like a part of an essay taken out of context, you know? This is one scene in a movie, a small part of a bigger picture. You get the message.
