Disclaimer: I do not own anything from Prince of Tennis.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: So yes, I've decided to rewrite this entire story. I've reread my old ones on this account and was very unsatisfied with my past writing skills. I was awful with grammar and vocabulary and the overall plot and events needed serious editing. It's crazy that I made this account almost 3 and a half years ago and that the last time I updated any of my stories was a little less than 2 years ago. It was early on in middle school that I began writing, so I've definitely gotten better. Not fantastic, but better. I will delete some old stories as I lost my inspiration and ideas for them, but there are some I still want to keep and rewrite, this being one of them. I apologize for abandoning this story for so long, but hopefully, you all will enjoy the new version.
"Taking a new step,
Uttering a new word,
Is what people fear most."
–Fyodor Dostoyevsky (Crimes and Punishment)
PROLOGUE: REVOLUTION
"Student entrance greetings by first year representative, Atobe Katsumi!" The Hyotei student body watched speculatively as a girl confidently made her way up to the stage. She grabbed the microphone without an ounce of hesitation in her movement and smirked, flipping her long hair over her shoulder.
"Hm, not a bad school," she observed haughtily, dark eyes roaming over the audience. "Hey! Is the boys' tennis team captain there in the back?! Because from today on… I'm the Queen!"
A deafening silence–as contradictory as that may sound–fell over the crowd. Some jaws dropped, some sneered, and others watched on in awe.
"I've arranged for the absolute best conditions here at Hyotei Academy. Whether you make use of them or disdain them; that's your own choice. Don't be soft on yourself! Take responsibility for your academic life into your own hands!"
And with those words, the young beauty threw her head back and laughed, the sound echoing throughout the otherwise silent auditorium.
It was on this day that Atobe Katsumi had usurped the throne of Hyotei Academy.
And on this day, came change.
Not steady change, one that occurred gently, naturally. But one that was abrupt, forced, and completely unexpected. Atobe Katsumi had barged into the scene with no prior warning like an uncontrollable hurricane.
Because Atobe Katsumi does not ask for change.
She demands it.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: This was taken from a combination of the story in the Prince of Tennis Fan Book 40.5 and also the OVA: Turbulence, The Young Atobe. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, but I'll just try it and see where it takes me. If there are any old readers, welcome back and thanks for sticking with me for so long. For new ones, I really hope you like it! Also, as for pairings, I'll be taking the old votes into account and also have started a new poll with the question: Who would you like Katsumi to be paired with? Just as I was planning before, I will have multiple love interests, probably tie it down to two, then choose a final based on votes, my own opinion, and how the story plays out. You can either vote in the poll, in a review, or PM me. If you would like to enter in another character and I think that I would be able to do so, PM me or leave a review and I may add him to the list.
The main choices are:
Oshitari Yuushi–Telepathic Pair
Ootori Choutarou–N/A
Shishido Ryou–Dramatic Pair
Tezuka Kunimitsu–Imperial Pair
Echizen Ryoma–Royal Pair
Yukimura Seiichi–N/A
Sanada Genichirou–Tango Pair
Niou Masaharu–N/A
Some side choices are:
Hiyoshi Wakashi–Dominance Pair
Akutagawa Jirou–Adorable Pair
Marui Bunta–N/A
Kirihara Akaya–N/A
Shiraishi Kuranosuke–N/A
I didn't know some of these ship names even existed. Anyway, you can start voting if you'd like, but I'd prefer if you wait until at least the next chapter is out. But if you're dead set on someone, then go ahead.
