How It all Began
A/N: Thanks to my friend for the inspiration. We talked about the story together. Please rate/comment/favorite and tell me how I can improve. Thanks!
Skye walked along the streets of her home in District 4. She couldn't believe that just a week ago everything had been normal. Now the only things that she saw were homes caved in, rotting food and garbage overflowing, and pain and suffering visible everywhere.
How did this happen? She wonders. How did we become this? She thought about how the Capitol had turned against them. It wasn't always like this.
A year ago there were no districts. There was no capitol. There was freedom and happiness. What is now the capitol used to be a place of refuge for immigrants and people who needed help. Panem was a prospering country that was growing bigger. There was enough to eat, comfortable homes, and, best of all, peace. But that all changed when the Capitol realized that they held a significant amount of power over us. They started taking our food and forcing us to work for them. We slowly had to move away because there wasn't enough food and working space for all the people. The Capitol decided to divide us into districts to make it easier for them. Many of the men were so angry that they revolted. What resulted was a bloody bombing of the country that lasted for six months. The Capitol scarred and pained almost every district. We were one of the last districts to be bombed, because the Capitol thought we still might give up. We never did, but realized that the Capitol was too powerful, and they overcame us. This is how my district came to be destroyed. During this past week I have realized how powerful the Capitol really is, and what they could do if they wanted to. I know that the Capitol is angry with us, and I am terrified of what the consequences will be because of our actions.
