Disclaimer: Escaflowne isn't mine. O well. My friend and I have the whole series, though, if that counts for anything!!

A/N: My second Escaflowne poem… this one's Van's POV about Hitomi, too. Van Fanel is a hot man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, this poem takes place after the end of the movie. That last scene is such an abrupt ending, but it's preeeeeeeeeeeetty… well, read and enjoy!!

Sunset

"And if you turned around to see me and I was gone, should have looked outside your window 'cause the sun was coming up." Michelle Branch

All I did was turn around

And suddenly you're gone

Vanished

Into the fading sunset

And I know you've gone back home

Back where you belong

Yet at the same time

I can't help but longing for you

Reaching out

Hoping to catch your hand in mine

Wishing for you to stay

Here with me

'cause with you I know

I'm never alone

And one day I know

I may find peace

But somewhere in my heart

I can't help but want you here

Even though I know you're gone

All I had to do was turn around

Away from the fading sunset

For you to fade away from me, too

But maybe someday

I'll turn around

And you'll be back

Returning as quickly as you left

Am I hoping for too much?

Maybe so

But all I had to do

Was turn away once

Away from the fading sunset

With the sunrise will you be back?

I'll never know

I can only hope

Though I know you're gone

Back home where you belong

I turned around and you were gone

Like the sun

But the sun rises again

And every time I see the sun

You'll be on my mind

And maybe, just maybe

You'll rise back into my arms
