Author's Notes
Okay! This was written on a spur of 'I'MBOREDANDIWANTTOWRITE' moment. I think I've developed a very funky habit with monotony in drabble fics.
Name: Of Smiles and Tears
Rating: T
Characters: Kira-Centric, on Hinamori. KiraHina/IzuMomo/whatever you prefer to call it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Bleach..wish I did though; I'd prove once and for all that Hinamori really is a pimp.
All he wanted was for her to smile again.
After Aizen's death, all Hinamori did was cry. She tried to get revenge for the captain she idolized, and even if she'd obtained it, he didn't think she'd ever smile again. Still, he prevented her from being killed when she tried to attack Ichimaru-taichou. He pointed his sword at her, but she was not killed. He was a monster, but she was safe.
When Aizen promised not to harm her, he believed him, because he thought that she would be happy again, that she would smile again. That was all he wanted, so he distracted the 10th division, fought his taichou's childhood friend, lost to his taichou's childhood friend. And all the while, he hoped that she was smiling.
When the message was sent all across Soul Society of Aizen's betrayal, what could he feel but guilt? He had trusted her captain and his captain, and pointed his sword at those who could have protected her. He kept them from going to her while the man she'd adored and idolized stabbed his sword through her chest.
When Hinamori woke up, he smiled, but it never reached his eyes. She cried, and that smile he'd hoped to see for an eternity didn't come. Once Unohana-taichou deemed it was all right for her to return to her quarters in the fifth Division to rest, he took her there himself, and sat in her quarters while she cried, hoping, praying that he could make her smile. He knew it was impossible for him to bring that light back to her face; it had died with what she thought was her captain.
Kira wanted her to smile, smile for him, smile for anything, but all she did was cry.
