This is a random story I wrote for my friend who went through an obsession with DWC last year. So I've had this lying around for a while and decided to upload it as a miniature one-shot.
Dark Woods Circus
I wondered through the carnival, lost among the clowns and beasts found stalking between the stalls. I walk further in search of my parents and I see a giant man grinning at me.
"Welcome to the Dark Woods Circus" he says and pulls me into a dark tent. Suddenly light flooded my vision. Everywhere I look I see Cages, people locked behind bars of steel. He pulled me through the isles, pausing briefly at some of the cages.
The first cage held conjoined twins, twirling and dancing within their confines, twisted smiles adorning their faces. A crowd of adults laughed as the twins tripped over each other and fell to the ground. "We are having fun, we are having fun, we're having fun at this circus" they sand and continue to twirl around again. I shut my eyes and was pulled to the next cage.
This one held a girl with goat legs, the plaque on the cage said 'Chimera Wonder'. She sang for her watchers with tears running down her face, "it's painful, it's so very painful" is what she said to me, and I was once again pulled away.
The final cage contained a man chewing on a bloody arm, 'Blue Beast' they called him. Blood covered the floor of his enclosure. "But still it goes, the circus goes without any regard for what we feel" he growled out as I myself was pushed into a cage hidden in a dark corner.
Days turned to weeks, weeks to months. I'd long since given up on being freed from my cage where people stare at my decaying face. "Please kill me, Please kill me, Please kill me to get me out of this place" I begged a young girl standing by the giant man that had stripped me of my freedom. I was replied with "No, that's asking the impossible…" before being dragged away and locked in another cage.
"Welcome to the Dark Woods Circus, we gave you plenty of notice." The caged people echoed together and the lights shut off.
