"Elli! No! Please do not leave me!" I screamed as she dropped into the abyss. My heart skipped three beats. There she was stuck on a ledge, 400 feet below me.
"Use your powers!" She screamed then cringed and jerked in pain. Her body was now crippled from slamming into the ledge. If she survived this that means that there would be a billion bruises and scars all over her body.
The sound of a bird screech tore at both of our ears. As I looked overhead, I saw a figure that was a giant raven. It wasn't a tangible raven; it was more like it was a soul. Out of practically nowhere a group of five teenagers appeared. I backed away as a girl in a dark blue cloak looked at me.
"A-a-are you g-gonna hurt me?" I asked, very frightened. As I backed away, I fell on my back which made it harder to squirm around.
"Robin, we have a child here!" She yelled to a boy with spiky hair wearing an odd red, yellow, and green jumpsuit. I observed her for a mere minute. She had a very pale grey face and short lavender hair. What stood out was that she had a red gem in the middle of her forehead. It did not match the rest of her, so I thought it must serve a purpose. Without hesitation she levitated and flew over to the boy she called Robin. My face must have been in awe because she turned around and smiled at me. "Did you hear me?" She asked him a little more stern this time. He did not care about her in this situation because he was too busy dislodging Elli's foot from a rock.
"Starfire, please handle Raven's problem, I'm busy," He said without thinking about what he said.
"Oh joy, a child! That reminds me of when I was a K'norfka of that lobster!" Starfire said with a bubbly attitude. She flew towards me and I immediately jolted back, slipping on the snow and falling into the abyss.
In the concise seconds that I was falling for it was amazing. I felt a mix of joy and utter terror. I felt the wind blow through my hair, then my hair dropped as I was caught by Starfire and brought up to the ledge.
She smiled at me then flew over to see what Robin and Raven were doing. Robin was still ignoring her and taking a painstaking amount of time just to get a rock out of the way. Raven just levitated over the dark chasm that was over a mile deep. I wondered how she had the courage to float over that.
"Robin this is-" Raven said impatiently to him but was cut off by him
"Not now! I am too busy with this girl's leg!" he screamed at her
"For God's sake" she muttered to herself, the loudly chanted the words " Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" With that, her eyes blazed a radiant white. Her hands had a black haze around them, so did the boulder. It lifted in the air, still with the glow around it, and then shattered into a million pieces.
"Cali where are you? Are you okay?" Elli shouted to me as she rode on Starfire's back. Starfire put her down and she ran towards me. I was greeted by a huge hug and a whisper in my ear. "What happened? Why didn't you use your powers?" The soft whisper gave me chills down my back.
"I-I can't. They won't work! I'm so sorry!" I whispered back to her and she stared into my eyes. Her eyes looked glassy and she was about to cry. I got pulled into another hug.
"Reunion time is over, girls. Time to get home now" Robin told us. He didn't smile, it was more of smirk. It was very intimidating.
"But we don't have a h-" Elli jabbed me in the stomach as I tried to talk. The three superheroes turned and walked away. Raven turned back at us. She whispered "and stay out of these blizzards!", then winked. She caught back up with the group.
That was the last time I saw them. For now.
