Edward's POV

I walk up the steps of Bella's house. I've just come back from a day of hunting with my brothers, and I'm anxious to see her. I've missed her today. I am just about to knock when I catch the wretched stench of dog. That means Jacob is here, with Bella. Alone.

I open the door as quietly as I can and listen to my surroundings. I don't hear anything. I look around in the living room and the kitchen. Both are empty. I'm just about to check the back yard when I hear a noise from upstairs. A grunt. Jacob.

"Come on Bella! Hurry up. Just unwrap the thing already," I hear Jacob say.

"Just be patient; it's not as easy as it looks like on the package," Bella replies.

I hear a rustling of some sort of plastic. Curious, I walk up the stairs, and at the top I find that they are in Bella's room. Well, that just won't do. I walk to the door and am just about to open it when I hear something that I'm not expecting.

"Okay Jake, I have it unwrapped. Hold still while I slide it on." What? Slide what on? And where? I think.

"Okay, hold on, just let me get it out and then we'll be good to go." No! Don't do that! I can't bring myself to open the door for fear of what I might actually find behind it.

I hear some more rustling and then—

"Oh my god, it's so huge!" I hear Bella exclaim. What is huge? Surely she doesn't mean…

"It's not that huge, Bella."

"It looks pretty big to me. Are you sure it's going to fit?" What the fuck is going on! I stand by the door and listen some more.

"Okay, I'm ready. Let's do this," Bella says. I hear some commotion, and then I hear Bella whine.

"Jacob, it won't go in for me. Can you try shoving it in?"

"Bella, it's not that hard; just shove it in the hole."

This is getting out of hand! What are they shoving? And what hole is it going into?

"It's still not working; it's too damn big!" Bella huffs.

Jacob growls and says, "Jeez, Bella, hand it over and let me try. I bet I can get it in on the first try." What are they doing? "Okay, Bella, are you ready? I'm going to shove it in now," Jacob says.

"Yeah, I'm ready."

I wait, and then I hear it. Big time grunting.

"Keep going Jake! It's almost in," Bella says breathlessly.

"I know! Ah, almost there!" Jacob grunts.

"Harder! You're almost there!" Bella yells. I can't stand this anymore. If that mutt is touching my Bella, I'm going to rip his head off!

"Harder!" Bella yells.

"Oh god! Almost there!" Jacob pants back. He grunts some more and then—

"Oh yes! It's in! It's in!" Bella yells. That's it! I shout in my head. I'm going to kill that mongrel for ever touching my Bella in such a way!

I'm prepared for the worst; I'm ready for my silent heart to shatter into a million pieces. I bang the door open and rush in. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU! YOU FILTHY—" I stop dead in my tracks.

"What's wrong Edward?" Bella asks me with worry in her eyes. I look at her and then back to Jacob who is kneeling on the floor with a white pole in his hands, and then to Bella who is sitting next to him while holding down a white base platform of some kind.

"What's going on in here?" I ask, confused.

"We're assembling this bookshelf that Renee sent me. What'd you think we were doing?" Bella says to me. Maybe I should have paid more attention to Jacob's mind.

"I–nothing. Never mind, I wasn't thinking properly. Uhh, continue, I'll just wait downstairs until you're finished," I tell her and walk out of the room.

The End
