1Téa Gardner had her friends.

Yugi, Joey, Tristan, Bakura, even Mokuba... and then, there was him.

Seto Kaiba.

He was a puzzle. An enigma in his own rights. A mystery that she could never truly understand or solve. He cared about them. Oh, she knew that. In his own twisted, arrogant, self-promoting way, he had protected them from the countless dangers. Helped them intentionally or unintentionally, but that was moot really. Though his agnostic, self-professing, cold, and aloof exterior confused her. He never believed in any of the hocus-pocus mind tricks. Neither did he entertain any of her friendship offers.

What was wrong in having friends? Surely, everyone got lonely from time to time. Everyone needed somebody to confide in. To have unconditional fun. Somebody to be there by your side, to protect you, watch over you, when you need them the most. It wasn't a crime to trust your friends... ah! So that's what it was.

It wasn't having 'friends' that repulsed Seto Kaiba.

It was having to 'trust' in those friends that repulsed him.

Because Trust was fragile. Trust can be broken.

And Seto Kaiba was indestructible.
