I reached for my timetable out of my pocket and glanced at it, science room eleven. I re-adjusted my bag over my shoulder and searched for the room, finally I saw a brown sliding door with a bolded '11' on it. As I entered I walked up to the front of the class and approached the teacher.

"Uh hi I'm Roman, the transfer from Sterling High."

"Yes I've heard of you," she said writing scanning the room, "so it looks like you and Emery will be lab partners!" She pointed to a girl in the back row, she had brown hair and even from this far distance I could tell she was beautiful.

I walked towards her and sat down quickly so people would stop staring. She seemed friendly enough.

"Hi I'm Emery!" She stated with a smile.

"Roman." I said smiling back.

The class progressed quickly as Emery and I chatted, she seemed like a great girl and I started to feel pretty lucky that I had got her as a lab partner.

"You should come to this party tonight!" She said looking at me.

"Sounds fun!" I said as a smile crept on my face.

The bell rang as Emery handed me a small piece of paper with and address on it.

"Hope to see you there!" She said grabbing her books and leaving.

The rest of day passed by slowly, it was hard being the new kid, but then again, it had its perks. Girls saw you as fresh meat and the guys found a new mate to talk sports with.

I picked out a pair of tight jeans and a simple shirt that showed my upper body figure. I swung the keys around my finger and got in the car glancing at the address Emery had given me. By the time I arrived the party was in full swing, people drinking and some dancing, that's when I saw Emery. She was dancing with a few friends when she spotted me and walked over.

"Hey there. Glad to see you made it!"

"Yeah me too!" I said with a smile.

We were dancing when all of a sudden Emery was pushed into my chest; I grabbed her so she didn't fall. That's when our eyes locked and I leaned in.

"What the hell is this?" I heard some tall brown haired guy say.

Everyone was staring now.

"That's my girlfriend!" He shouted.

"Look man I'm sorry I didn't know." I said trying to explain.

"Grayson calm down!" Emery said sternly.

"I still think you need to know who's in charge around here!" He stated.

In one swift movement he knocked my right across the face with his fist. I blacked out as soon as I hit the floor.
