AN: So I'm back with a really short drabble. This is what happens when you're listening to music in Algebra instead of focusing. Thought of this while listening to This Is Letting Go by Rise Against. Read, review, enjoy!

Disclaimer: If I owned Naruto, do you really think I'd be on FanFiction?

Sasuke struggled to get out from underneath the blonde who was glaring down at him. Fierce red eyes glared into his onyx ones. It was as if Kyuubi was trying to extinguish any life left in the Uchiha without staining Naruto's pure hands with tainted Uchiha blood.

Naruto, or rather Kyuubi, raised a clawed hand and swiped it toward Sasuke's face. Both knew the target, Sasuke's most valuable weapon, the Sharingan. They also knew that with Sasuke's left hand immobilized by Naruto's knee and his other twisted painfully, laying uselessly by his side, the Uchiha could do nothing to protect himself.

In a very un-Uchiha manner, Sasuke closed his eyes and turned his head, cowering away from the rapidly approaching claws. He stayed like this for a moment, waiting for the pain that never came. Rather, the weight pinning him down lifted and he opened his eyes.

Naruto was standing over him, holding him by his collar. Sasuke stared up into crystal clear blue eyes. He was surprised that the calmness of the cerulean pools made him more uneasy than the fierce murderous intent of Kyuubi's red ones. Naruto unceremoniously dropped the Uchiha to the ground and turned to walk away.

"You're finally giving up on me then, dobe?"

"I'm not giving up. I'm letting go. I lost focus on my own dreams by chasing you. I'm not the same stupid kid anymore, Sasuke. I realize that chasing you is a hopeless cause. For so long I thought that there might be something left in you that I could save. But I was wrong. I'm not sure you could have ever been helped." Naruto began to walk away, leaving Sasuke laying broken and bleeding on the ground. The exact opposite of the Valley of the End. "You're sick, Sasuke. Until you acknowledge that fact and seek help, you'll just poison everything around you. I can't let you drag me down anymore. I'm letting you live on a whim, Uchiha Sasuke," Naruto spat at his victim in a mocking tone before he disappeared from Sasuke's limited vision.

The last Uchiha could do nothing but watch as his last shred of hope disappeared with Naruto. He let the blonde's words sink in as the edges of his consciousness blurred. As he felt his body be lifted into strong arms and himself be covered in a cloak that smelled strongly of wood, he thought, 'When did Naruto surpass me?'

AN: So? Thoughts, suggestions, flames to keep my new apartment warm at night? Who do you guys think picked Sasu up? Thank you for reading!
