This short one shot takes place in the same universe as my very first fanfic for this show. I guess I didn't quite want to leave the happy family I created. I'm not sure if anyone will enjoy it but I hope you do and if you could let me know by leaving a comment.

Derek Shepherd stood at the doorway of the master bedroom with his daughter Sarah in his arms. He was watching his wife, Addison, who was seated at her vanity table. He smirked and laughed at his wife. "Only your mother gets glammed up for a day in Central Park," he cooed to his daughter.
Addison turned around and glared at him. "First of all, I'm not getting 'glammed up', as you put it. If I was, I'd be wearing heels. Do you see what I'm actually wearing?" She then stuck out her sneaker clad feet.
"Yes, but those aren't ordinary sneakers. They're designer sneakers. As such, they still qualify as getting glammed up. In my opinion, anyway." He laughed.
Addison rolled her eyes. "I should throw something at you and if you weren't holding our daughter, I would."
Derek laughed, yet again. "Oh, Addison. I can't deny that being married to you is never boring."
"Is that a complaint?"
"Not at all."
"Glad to hear it. Now if you have nothing else to say, we should go. I'm ready."
"Finally."
Addison thought about saying something else but thought better of it.
It was a beautiful day as they crossed the street and entered Central Park. Continuing down the paths they very soon came to Bethesda Fountain. Addison took the time to throw some coins in.
"Did you make a wish?" Derek teased her.
"Of course."
"What was it?"
"You know I can't tell you that?"
Derek pouted but he accepted it. "Come on. Let's get some hot dogs. It's lunchtime and I'm starved."
"Hot dogs, Derek. Hardly the best option." She was thinking of the unfortunate history she had with hot dogs.
"And we're outside on a beautiful day in the best park in the world and so I think we can afford to say who cares just this once." Maybe he got her meaning and maybe he didn't. But in a new start for them, did it even matter anymore? Maybe and maybe not.
"Hardly the only time we've done it, but I get what you're saying." It might be time to let that event be consigned to the dustbin of history where it belonged.
"So?"
"So, lead us to the hot do cart." He proceeded to do just that.
Afterwards, they continued walking. "Want to go on a horse and buggy ride?"
Addison hesitated. "I'm not sure. With the whole controversy about carriage horses and all that…."
"All right. We can certainly hoof it under our own power. Although, probably nothing in this world is 100% pure. Everything has some taint to it"
"You make me so excited about raising Sarah in this world."
Derek shrugged. "All we can do is the best we can. This old world does have some good in it." He looked at her pointedly.
She blushed and remained silent until they got to Strawberry Fields.
"This is so beautiful."
"It is. A very fitting tribute."
"Sad that it had to be a tribute at all."
"Again, I can only say that we can only do the best we can. At least we're doing it together now."
"Always and forever."
With that they continued enjoying their day.
The End.
