Conk-Out
Sometimes the people of Knothole, whether they were Freedom Fighters or refugees, they forgot that even Sonic with all his speed…sometimes even Sonic's great endorse limits were stressed and stretched too much for too long. It seems that even Sally and Tails, two people that knew him best hadn't noticed how the blue hedgehog was almost sleeping on his feet the last few days.
At the moment, Sonic was getting away from the village and the possibility that someone (namely Sally) would come up with something he just had to do. Sonic didn't want to do anything right now except for falling over in the nearest dry spot and sleeping out the next week and a half.
"Sonic?"
The hedgehog almost cringed, hearing the voice speak up in the night air. Flattening his ears he blinked his eyes open fully and looked around but didn't see any one, "Huh?"
"Up here Sonic," a talon lightly tapped Sonic's head from behind and above.
Turning around Sonic found himself staring at scaly hide. Blinking he looked up and a faint smile formed, "Hi Dulcy." He said before yawning.
"You look like you were run through the waist plants…" the dragon winced in sympathy and she moved to put her head lower with the much smaller hedgehog's.
"I feel like it." Sonic said and he leaned his head on the long next for a moment before standing back up, "Hey, Duc'?"
"Yeah Sonic?" the dragon tilted her head to look at him better.
"Can I hide out with you for a bit?" the blue hedgehog fought another yawn, but gave into it. "I'm bushed and I don't want to run another mission when I can't think, or run." He added the last bit reluctantly, wincing as he had to admit he couldn't do what he loved and was famous for.
Chuckling, Dulcy sat back and held open her pouch, "Hop in, I'll make sure no one bothers you." She paused and after a moment reached down once she saw that Sonic was going to need a little help. Hocking her talons, carefully, around the quills on his back the dragon lifted Sonic up and deposited him in her pouch she let her friends ride in when she flew.
Sonic relaxed almost at once, eyes closing as he leaned against his draconic friend. The scales in the pouch were smaller smoother then on Dulcy's hide outside of it. It didn't even take a minute before Sonic was fully asleep. He was exhausted with little to no energy stores left and he was now warm, and safe. After all, who in their right mind (or half a mind?) would bother a dragon of all the beings on Mobius?
Dulcy moved so she could sit down and lean back on a tree. Normally, she preferred to hang upside down in one of the great trees but she could live with out doing so.
Hey, she had a passenger, a friend that was worn out and looked almost put out from the fact that no one else seemed to notice how bushed he was.
So, the dragon stayed on the ground, right side up and let Sonic sleep. If anyone asked for sonic, Dulcy would shoo them off! …Okay maybe she wouldn't shoo off Tails, Bunnie or Sally, but she'd make sure Sonic stayed asleep as long as he needed it.
What were friends for after all?
