Easy

Prompt: Easy- Rascal Flatts ft. Natasha Bedingfield

Hotch and Emily were in the perfect relationship. It seemed that way to the team. They were happy for their friends. Suddenly, they realized Hotch and Emily weren't talking to each other anymore and they knew that they had broken up.

Hotch wasn't bothered by the break up. He worked the same time as usual and was still the emotionless, unreadable boss the team knew. He wasn't hurt. He and Emily hadn't spoken since the break up and he was okay with it.

We broke up.
Yeah, it's tough.
Most guys would've been crushed.
Wasting their time wondering where they went wrong.
No way, not me.
I'm doing just fine.
I'm not afraid of moving on

Hotch seemed fine, but he was completely broken. He loved Emily. He didn't want their relationship to end. When the team went out to the bar, Hotch would see Emily smiling and laughing with everyone else. He wished he could make her smile, but she had clearly moved on. Every time he saw her, he pretended he was doing fine.

It's easy going out on Friday nights.
Easy every time I see her out.
I can smile, live it up, the way a single guy does.
But what she don't know is how hard it is to make it look so easy.

Emily looked like she was happy, but she was far from it. Every night she would cry herself to sleep. She couldn't even look at Hotch without tearing up. She tried to smile whenever the team went out, but her smile was a lie. She saw him sitting with Dave just talking and drinking. He was doing perfectly fine without her.

The truth is, I miss lying in those arms of his.
But I don't ever let it show.
I laugh and I act like I'm having the time of my life.

She missed being at his house and just laying in his arms. She missed the feeling of his arms wrapped around her. She missed the shiver she felt when he stroked her hair. She missed the feeling and the spark she felt surge through her body when his lips were on hers. She just missed talking to him.

As far as he knows, it's easy going out on Friday night.
Easy every time I see him out.
I can smile, live it up, like a single girl does.
But what he don't know is how hard it is to make it look so easy.

Hotch decided it was time to speak to Emily. He went to her apartment because he just needed to tell her how hurt he truly was.

Emily heard a knock on her door. She was shocked when she opened her door and saw Hotch standing there.

"Hotch, umm.. what are you doing here?"

"I needed to talk to you."

"Oh. Okay, come in." Emily said, slipping out of his way.

Emily and Hotch sat on the couch and he began to speak.

"Emily, I've been really hurt by this whole thing. I may not seem like I am, but I am. I miss you. I miss talking to you. When we go out with the team, I see you smile and laugh and I wish I could still make you smile."

"Hotch, that smile is a lie. I'm hurt, too. I never wanted our relationship to end, but it did. Things happen that we can't control. I'm not over you, but I'll try to get there."

"Emily, I can't get over you." Hotch looked her in the eye. "I love you. I have always loved you."

Emily just looked at him for a minute. Before he knew it, Emily's lips were against his. He quickly responded. He slid his tongue along her bottom lip and she allowed him entrance. He smiled against her lips when he heard her moan.

After a few minutes, they were in desperate need of oxygen. They pulled apart and looked into each others' eyes.

"I love you, too, Aaron." She kissed him again.

"Why did we even break up?" Emily asked when they pulled apart.

"I have no idea." Hotch said, pulling her in for another kiss.
