AN/ This is my version of the "Bye Bye Hilridge" episode. The one where Lizzie is about to graduate middle school, and Gordo writes a message in her yearbook. In my story Gordo wrote the note in pencil, not pen. Enjoy! =D
Dear Lizzie,
You rock. Don't ever change. Only, I mean it.
"Oh my gosh." I breathe after I read Gordo's note to me in my yearbook.
I wasn't supposed to see it yet.
I knew that.
I hope I haven't ruined it for him.
It looks like there was more to the message before, but it had been erased.
Now it was only a faded line of blurred words.
But, if I held it up to a light I had the feeling that I would be able to read the rest.
I see Gordo approaching me.
I quickly set the yearbook down and stand up.
"Hey, Gordo." I say, as if I hadn't done anything.
"Hey. You ready to go take that picture?" he replies.
"Yeah." I answer smiling nervously.
"You okay?"
"Umm, yeah. Let's just go take the school picture thingy."
"Okay." he shrugs my sudden nervousness off, like an old coat, and we walk to the area that the yearbook staff has chosen for our group photo.
We take our places and I grin and roll my eyes when I hear Ethan and Kate asking each other how their hair looks.
"Okay. Three." the photographer counts down.
I bite my lip considering what I'm about to do.
"Two."
I make up my mind and lean in.
"One."
There.
I've done it.
I'm kissing Gordo, on the cheek of course.
I pull back and look at his face.
Odd.
He's wearing a dream-like expression and a huge grin.
His face seems permanently stuck that way.
Okay. He's starting to freak me out now.
I wave my hand in front of his face and snap my fingers.
"Hello? Gordo?"
"What?" he asks, suddenly snapping out of his daze.
I give him a strange look.
"Did, did you just kiss me?"
"Yep."
"Oh. Okay." he shakes his head.
He must still be kind of in shock.
But why?
I just kissed his cheek.
"You do realize that you're not really going to be in the picture now, don't you?" he questions.
Practical Gordo.
"It's okay. I have a whole yearbook full of photos with me in them. Eleven, if you don't count my regular posed shot."
And it really is okay.
Now I'll always remember the first time I ever kissed Gordo.
Not that there'll be a second time or anything.
"Are you almost done with my yearbook?" I ask him.
"Let me see." he picks it up off of the picnic table and opens it. He reads over what he wrote and then gives me the verdict. "Yeah. I think I'm done. Have you written anything in mine yet?"
"Not yet. But I will. Why don't you give it to me and I'll take it back to my house and return it to you tomorrow?"
"Okay."
He reaches for his backpack, which he had left by the table, and pulls it out. "Here ya go."
"Thanks. Can I have mine?"
"Yeah, sure." He hands mine over.
When I get home, I'm going straight to a lamp and seeing what he erased.
This should be interesting.
