chapter one — prologue

He couldn't stop.

To him, it was beautiful— the sound of her screams, breaking bones, tearing skin— it was melodious. He kept piercing her skin, blossoming red. She cried out as her eyes widened in pain and agony. Tears streamed down her face, mixing with the blood gushing out of her body. He smiled at her maniacally.

"Sakura... you love me, right?"

s-stop...

She looked at him with fearful eyes and tried desperately to get away from him. Both her legs were useless; her kneecaps were shattered and her legs were covered with lacerations. Her left arm was dismembered, and her blood saturated the floor to crimson. Her intestines overflowed from the incision in her stomach, a slimy, scarlet mess that poured out thick vermilion. She was surrounded in a pool of her own blood.

it hurts... it hurts...

She used her right arm to try to crawl away from him, but she kept stumbling and falling on her wounds, only increasing the pain. But she kept struggling, even though it was pointless, and it was just getting her closer towards eternal unconsciousness.

—please... stop...

The room smelled like rusted metal and copper— intoxicating. She harshly coughed, choking out blood. She trembled as blood dripped down to her chin.

But he was happy, because she was finally with him.

—please...

He bent down next to her and lifted up her drooping face so she was looking at him. Her face was smeared with blood and tears. He leaned his head towards her and kissed her cold, blood stained lips. She just stared at him weakly— terrified, horrified, panicked.

—stop, stop, stop...

As her eyes began to flutter, he felt an ache by his chest.

"No... no Sakura... don't go to sleep yet!"

He grabbed the front of her blood drenched shirt and started to shake her violently. Tears rimmed his widened eyes, and as they tipped over, he began to hyperventilate and scream at her, but to her, it sounded muffled and faded.

—who...

She wearily looked up at him, his tears falling onto her pale face. Her vision became blurrier, everything seemed to tilt, nothing hurt anymore, numbness and detachment, the edges getting closer, black obsidian—

—who... are you

Her green eyes suddenly became lifeless as her heart reached it's finality.
