SPOILERS FOR THE GOD COMPLEX! This short story was inspired by the very last scene of tonight's episode, where the Doctor is looking around the TARDIS by himself. Enjoy, review if you would like, and know that Doctor Who is not mine. If I wrote it, then Rory, Amy and the Doctor would have adventures until the end of time. I cried a little when the Doctor called her 'Amy Williams.'

He still had the TARDIS. He'd always had the TARDIS, ever since the day they'd run off together, and he'd probably have her until his dying day. Even now, the sounds of the engine soothed him, like a friend saying 'there, there.' But that was all there was. The sound echoed now.

The universe was still there, still waiting to be explored. But now there was no one to turn to when he saw something amazing, and no one to tell him how brilliant he was, and no one to trust him implicitly as he dragged them from one situation to another. Amy Williams saw him for what he really was now, and while that tore at him (little Amelia Pond) it also made them somewhat…equals. Him and Amy and Rory.

'Equals' meant friends, and friends died. It was more than he could stand this time. This time, they would live.

It was quiet, and the sound echoed.
