It was bright and sunny Saturday morning as I sat in my simple room. The white lacy curtains the normally covered my window were open to let the sun in. I was in my oak desk chair bending over a piece of parchment quill in hand. Of course I had waited to the last minute to finish my holiday homework. One parchment was already finished and sat off to the side along with my book. I was almost half way done working on the second. My essay was for potions with Professor Slughorn about the basics of the love potion we learned sixth year.
"Lily!" April Evens voice called.
"Mom!" I yelled quite annoyed.
"The Hogwarts letter it here!'
"Coming!"
The letter! As quickly as possible I sat down my quill, put the lid on the ink bottle I was using and scrambled down the stairs. My hand grabbed the stairwell post and I spon around before having a clear shot to the kitchen down the hall. I busted into the kitchen and greedly taking the letter from my mothers cluched hand. Petunia sat at the cherry wood dining table nose in a thick book. Petunia's hazel eyes peered over the book to look at the letter. My mom smiled and walked out to go wake my dad. When she was out of sight Petunia stood up making the chair she was sitting in clamor to the floor. She reached for my letter as I fought to push her away.
"What the theā¦."
I didn't get a chance to finish as she reached and for it again. She had grabbed hold of the corner and we were playing a game of tug-a-war. I pulled up then down finally yanking it out of her hand. Heavy breaths were coming from her mouth and her hands sat on her hips.
"Freak!" she yelled.
With that I turned and sprinted for my room. She hated me so much. Every since I got the first letter my relationship with Petunia has faltered and broke. Without realizing it a tear streaked down my face. How did we get here? but I had got the letter back and it was my letter anyway. I broke the wax that sealed it shut and opened it up to see inside.
